  • Publication number: 20240074739
Abstract: Embodiments are directed to systems and methods for tracking menstrual cycles of a user. Embodiments can include obtaining a first set of temperature data at an electronic device, and in response to the first set of temperature data satisfying a first criteria, determining a first probability that ovulation occurred during a first time period using the first set of temperature data. In response to the first probability meeting a second criteria, embodiments can include determining a second set of probabilities comprising a probability that ovulation occurred for each day of a first set of days within the first time period. An estimated ovulation date can be determined using the second set of probabilities, and an electronic device can display an output indicating the estimated ovulation date.

  • Publication number: 20240070658
Abstract: In some implementations, a classification system may receive credentials associated with a data source and may receive, from the data source and using the credentials, a set of structured data including input events and output events. The classification system may filter the set of structured data by applying a first set of rules to generate a filtered set of structured data and may convert the filtered set of structured data to one or more numerical vectors, where a vector space associated with the one or more numerical vectors is infinite-dimensional. The classification system may further cluster the one or more numerical vectors using a first machine learning model to generate one or more clusters. Accordingly, the classification system may determine one or more classifications based on the set of structured data, each of the one or more classifications being associated with a corresponding frequency and a corresponding category.

  • Patent number: 11206149
Abstract: Ad hoc forums may be created and updated to enable users to easily share information, collaborate, track reading progress, coordinate events, and/or exchange other information related to reading of a book or other written work. The ad hoc forum may be accessible via a uniform resource locator (URL), which may be provided to users without requiring user registration and without a need for a dedicated reader device. A service provider may receive information from contemporaneous readers to update the forum, such as to update reading progress information, add messages, add comments, add annotations, and/or other add or modify other collaborative information. The service provider may exchange information with user devices of users via communication channels other than the forum, such as via email and/or text messages, as well as dedicated reader devices, while using this information to update the forum.

  • Publication number: 20200192133
Abstract: A tunable imaging system capable of capturing both broadband and narrow band images is disclosed. The narrow band selection is made possible by constructing a spectral filter with a series of Faraday rotators and polarizers. The dispersion in Faraday Effect discriminates different wavelengths, allowing only light around the desired wavelength to pass through the polarizers. The central wavelength and/or the bandwidth of the filter can be tuned by varying the magnetic field and/or rotating the polarizers.

  • Patent number: 10470040
Abstract: After an initial user sign-on with an identity provider, and in response to an intention of the user to use a third-party application executing on a client device of the user and requiring user sign-on, the identity provider provides a client script to the third-party application. The client script facilitates user and application authentication and invokes a trusted broker application that interacts with the identity provider to enable the user to use the third-party application. The use of the trusted broker application provided by the identity provider frees the authors of third-party applications from the need to modify their applications to explicitly sign in with the identify provider. For enhanced security, conformance to an organizational security policy is verified at time of sign-on, and an authenticatable link is used to invoke the third-party application to foil attempts by malicious software to substitute another application.

  • Patent number: 9735549
Abstract: Photonic integrated circuits (PICs) are based on quantum cascade (QC) structures. In embodiment methods and corresponding devices, a QC layer in a wave confinement region of an integrated multi-layer semiconductor structure capable of producing optical gain is depleted of free charge carriers to create a low-loss optical wave confinement region in a portion of the structure. Ion implantation may be used to create energetically deep trap levels to trap free charge carriers. Other embodiments include modifying a region of a passive, depleted QC structure to produce an active region capable of optical gain. Gain or loss may also be modified by partially depleting or enhancing free charge carrier density. QC lasers and amplifiers may be integrated monolithically with each other or with passive waveguides and other passive devices in a self-aligned manner. Embodiments overcome challenges of high cost, complex fabrication, and coupling loss involved with material re-growth methods.

  • Patent number: 8113896
Abstract: A fin of aquatic carrier is described, which includes a fixing component, a retractable component, and a first elastic component. The retractable component is pivoted to the fixing component; the first elastic component connects the fixing component and the retractable component and supports the retractable component. When the retractable component experiences an external force, the first elastic component is compressed and causes the retractable component to rotate with respect to the fixing component. When surfers or swimmers are hit by the fin of aquatic carrier described in this invention, the rotation of the retractable component with respect to the fixing component reduces the force exerted on them, thus preventing them from being hurt. In addition, an aquatic carrier with a fin is also described.

  • Publication number: 20110311376
Abstract: The invention provides a jet propeller for air-charging, and an outboard motor having the same. In addition to the propelling function, the present invention can be coupled with special function nozzle device to use the same apparatus achieving the following functions: air-charging, air pumping, as a spray gun, high-pressure water spray (fire fighting or cleaning), and water pumping. The present invention does not use the ordinary propeller blade, which is not easy to harm the human being or marine creatures, or to be collided and wrapped by miscellaneous objects in the water, and provides a multi-purpose, safe and environment-friendly propeller.

  • Patent number: 7120823
Abstract: The present invention provides a method, apparatus, and computer instructions for recovering an image of partition configuration information data for a set of partitions having at least one affinity partition in a logical partition data processing system. (Damage to an image of partition configuration data is detected. Current partition data is compared with a backup partition data. A merger of the current partition configuration data is made with the backup logical partition data if a conflict is present between the current partition configuration data and the backup partition data. The merger is performed in a manner avoiding stopping an operation on a running partition in the set of partitions.

  • Publication number: 20050071363
Abstract: A method, apparatus, and computer instructions for improving performance and scalability of common information model object (CIMOM) by using a hardware management console (HMC) repository. The HMC repository includes storage of HMC objects, an HMC object model and a common interface (CIM Wrapper) for accessing to HMC objects. The HMC object model allows the user to store and retrieve the CIM objects and their associations efficiently. A CIM provider may access HMC objects through a common interface (CIM Wrapper), so that different repositories are allowed to be used without significant changes to the underlying server code (CIM provider). A CIM provider may also call the HMC repository directly for more efficient operations because the number of times conversions made between the CIM object and the repository object are greatly decreased.

  • Publication number: 20050027868
Abstract: A method, apparatus, and computer instructions for providing addresses to clients. A request is received from a client for an address. A determination is made as to whether authentication information is present in the request. A verification process is performed using the authentication information if the authentication information is presenting the request. A determination is made as to whether the authentication information is authenticated.
