  • Patent number: 9032080
Abstract: A central terminal may receive from a user a first message, which may be transmitted from a communication terminal, identifying particular media content on a particular content server, and in response the central terminal may transmit a second message to a particular application server if the central terminal determines that the first message is associated with the application server. The application server may generate and transmit to the communication terminal accessing information that may be used by the user to retrieve, via the communication terminal, the media content from the content server. Submitting content requests in this manner may enable routing content requests through a particular system, such as IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS), thereby making use of filtering features of the particular system for user authentication and access control, and obviating need for separate proprietary access control mechanisms for the content server.

  • Patent number: 7027577
Abstract: A method and system for selecting a Multimedia Resource Function Controller (MRFC) for allocating resources for a conference call based on a pre-defined condition. In a first embodiment, the condition is associated with a status of an MRFC of a first network, such as an overload of resources, a failure, or an inexistence of the MRFC in the first network. When the condition is detected, an application server (AS) of the first network delegates the responsibility of allocating the resources for the conference call to an MRFC of a second network. In a second embodiment, the pre-defined condition is associated with a location of a User Equipment (UE) involved in the conference call. Based on the UE's location, the AS of the first network selects an MRFC of a second network, and delegates the responsibility of allocating the resources for the conference call to the MRFC of the second network.

  • Publication number: 20040249949
Abstract: A method, system and Application Server (AS) for distributing Push-To-Talk (PTT) voice and multimedia messages to communities of subscribers, using a definition os PTT groups. First, a PTT group of subscribers is created in the AS, either by one of the members or by a content provider server. Then, the subscribers register their interest in receiving PTT messages related to the created group, for example by joining a Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) related to that group. Finally, the content provider server sends a PTT message destined to the PTT group, the message comprising voice and/or multimedia information, such as for example news, stock quotes, sport updates, weather or commercial information. The message is received by the AS, which distributes it to the registered subscribers of the PTT group using its definition of the PTT group.

  • Publication number: 20040037406
Abstract: A method and system for exchanging instant messages among participants to a conference call, wherein when an instant message is to be sent among the participants, the instant message is addressed by a first participant to the conference call itself, which is identified by a conference call URI. An Application Server (AS) receives the message, and based on a memory-stored correspondence between the conference call URI and the conference call participants, translates the session URI into Public Ids, SIP URIs or any other identifier of each participant, or participant's terminal. The AS further relays the instant message to the other participants by addressing it to each participant's identifier. The memory of the AS is updated as new participants join or leave the conference call, as to always reflect the participants currently involved in the conference call.
