  • Publication number: 20140049095
Abstract: A wheel-rim protector comprises a flexible elongate body having first and second ends, wherein a lateral extent of the elongate body defines a rim-protection portion seatable on a rim edge of a wheel and a tail portion which extends away from the rim-protection portion seatable on a circumferential outer surface of the wheel rim. A connector which positively engages the first and second ends of the elongate body is also provided, and includes a toothed tongue element and a toothed-engagement element on a radially outer surface of the tail portion at or adjacent to at least one of the first and second ends. Teeth of the tongue element and the toothed-engagement element are interengagable to prevent or limit unintentional longitudinal separation of the first and second ends. The connector further includes an anti-lift element on or adjacent to the toothed-engagement element.

  • Publication number: 20130281840
Abstract: This invention relates to a scanning apparatus for imaging the breast that employs both X-ray and ultrasound technologies to enhance the diagnosis of cancer. There is provided a method for acquiring and co-registering the X-ray and ultrasound images in three-dimensional space, so that: the breast is in the same orientation and degree of compression when X-ray and ultrasound images are obtained; both sets of images are acquired simultaneously so as to minimize the time the woman's breast is held stationary; automated breast ultrasound images of the whole breast are acquired in a single scan; both image modalities are acquired in three dimensions; and radiation dose exposure to the woman is minimized. The method incorporates, in a single device, a system for acquiring full-field digital mammography and automated breast ultrasound images, and an algorithm for performing digital tomosynthesis reconstruction using these images.

  • Patent number: 8547431
Abstract: A method of generating an event log of game events associated with elements in a sporting event. The method includes tracking, within a sequence of video images, image features which correspond to respective elements in the sporting event and selecting, from the tracked image features, a first image feature which corresponds to one of the elements so as to designate that element as a selected element. The method further includes selecting a game event from an event list of possible game events for association with the selected element, and associating the selected game event with the selected element so as to generate the event log.

  • Patent number: 8507894
Abstract: This invention concerns an electronic device for the control and readout of the electron or hole spin of a single dopant in silicon. The device comprises a silicon substrate in which there are one or more ohmic contact regions. An insulating region on top of the substrate. First and second barrier gates spaced apart to isolate a small region of charges to form an island of a Single Electron Transistor (SET). A third gate over-lying both the first and second barrier gates, but insulated from them, the third gate being able to generate a gate-induced charge layer (GICL) in the beneath it. A fourth gate in close proximity to a single dopant atom, the dopant atom being encapsulated in the substrate outside the region of the GICL but close enough to allow spin-dependent charge tunnelling between the dopant atom and the SET island under the control of gate potentials, mainly the fourth gate.
