Abstract: The invention provides a method and article for storing genetic material or analytes from a biological sample by contacting said biological sample with a cellulose substrate comprising structural units of Formula I wherein X and Y are independently N—O-L-A or O, with the proviso that when Y is O, then X is N—O-L-A, and when X is O, then Y is N—O-L-A; L is a direct bond, an aliphatic radical, an aromatic radical, a cycloaliphatic radical, or a combination thereof; and A=COOH, SO3H, or a combination thereof. The invention also relates to a cellulose substrate comprising the structural units of Formula I, and a method of manufacturing the same.

Abstract: A method for purifying a sulfur-containing fuel oil comprising (a) contacting in a first reaction mixture the sulfur-containing fuel oil with a water-soluble organic acid and oxygen at a temperature in a range of from about 100° C. to about 250° C., and at a pressure in a range of from about 15 pounds per square inch to about 2500 pounds per square inch to provide a first oxidized mixture, (b) adding water to provide a biphasic mixture comprising a water-rich phase and a fuel oil-rich phase, and (c) separating the water-rich phase from the fuel oil-rich phase to provide a purified fuel oil. In one embodiment, the method may further include an oxidation catalyst. In one embodiment, the method may further include a carbonaceous promoter. In one embodiment, the sulfur-containing fuel oil may be deasphalted before contacting with the water-soluble organic acid.

At least one window pane is slidably received in the inner frame assembly. A vertical post extends from the lower portion to the upper portion of the inner frame assembly. A latch is disposed at the upper portion of the vertical post. A latch handle is slidingly received by the vertical post. The latch handle is operably connected to the latch for actuating the latch between open and locked positions.

Abstract: A method of manufacturing a part having at least one mechanically weakened area includes a step of producing a thermoplastics material part and at least one cycle of steps entailing forming a localized opening through an area of the part, heating the part locally by means of a heating probe so as to render the aforementioned area of the part plastic, and using a punch to modify the geometry of the area rendered plastic so as to delimit in the part a mechanically weakened area constituting a hole or hole precursor.
