  • Publication number: 20220338429
Abstract: The technology described herein provides a dual machine irrigation system. The first machine is primarily an irrigation machine and the second machine is primarily a sensor machine, though it may also distribute liquids. The irrigation machine includes an irrigation span and can include multiple irrigation spans. The sensor machine includes a sensor span and can include multiple sensor spans. The sensor span gathers data that is used to optimize the liquid deployment from the irrigation span. In an aspect, both the irrigation span and the sensor span follow the same path of travel through a field, but at different times. The sensor span is separate from the irrigation span and includes a plurality of environmental sensors that gather data on the field, the field environment, and any crops that may be in the field. The ability of the sensor span to provide real-time data allows for optimization of liquid deployments.

  • Publication number: 20220292718
Abstract: A computer-implemented method of field calibrating a device is disclosed. In one example, a reference image is acquired, via an infrared camera, while the device is in a factory-calibrated state. The reference image measures a factory-calibrated spatial relationship of one or more infrared-visible fiducial markers of the device relative to the infrared camera while the device is in the factory-calibrated state. Later, a field image is acquired, via the infrared camera. The field image measures an updated spatial relationship of the one or more infrared-visible fiducial markers relative to the infrared camera. The device is field calibrated based on the reference image and the field image.

  • Patent number: 11434703
Abstract: A rotary drill bit includes movable gauge elements biased to protrude radially through a circumferential engagement surface of a gauge pad. The gauge elements are retractable to protrude a lesser distance against the bias of a biasing mechanism. Fluid chambers are defined adjacent the gauge elements, and fluid is permitted to be bled into and out of the fluid chambers to delay and slow the retraction and extension of the gauge elements. During straight drilling operations, the biasing mechanisms maintain the gauge elements in an extended position providing stability to the drill bit. When a steering force is applied to the drill bit, the gauge elements retract slowly as fluid is bled from the fluid chambers. As the gauge elements rotate with the drill bit, the retracted configuration may be maintained as gauge elements disengage the geologic formation on a side of the drill bit opposite the steering direction.

  • Publication number: 20220258827
Abstract: A bicycle has a front fork, within which the front wheel is mounted, attached to the head tube. Extending downwardly from each end of a lateral member are downwardly projecting forks, each comprising a primary portion, the respective primary portions extending downwardly and substantially parallel to each other. The longitudinal axes of both the main portion and a rider's lower leg are aligned. By aligning the wakes created by the forks and the lower leg a reduction in overall system drag is provided. Additionally or alternatively, the rear wheel may be provided between downwardly projecting stays, each comprising a primary portion, the respective primary portions extending downwardly and substantially parallel to each other. By aligning the downwardly projecting stays with the lower leg beneficial drag reduction is achieved.

  • Publication number: 20220253063
Abstract: Autonomous machine navigation techniques may generate a three-dimensional point cloud that represents at least a work region based on feature data and matching data. Pose data associated with points of the three-dimensional point cloud may be generated that represents poses of an autonomous machine. A boundary may be determined using the pose data for subsequent navigation of the autonomous machine in the work region. Non-vision-based sensor data may be used to determine a pose. The pose may be updated based on the vision-based pose data. The autonomous machine may be navigated within the boundary of the work region based on the updated pose. The three-dimensional point cloud may be generated based on data captured during a touring phase. Boundaries may be generated based on data captured during a mapping phase.
