  • Publication number: 20170228138
Abstract: When an information space is larger than the display, it is typical for interfaces to only support interacting with content that is rendered within its viewport. Various embodiments are described herein for several spatial off-screen exploration techniques that make use of the interaction space around the physical display to support interacting with off-screen content. These techniques include one or more of Paper Distortion, Dynamic Distortion, Content-Aware Dynamic Peephole Inset, Spatial Panning, and Point2Pan. To enable a detailed analysis of spatial interaction systems, a web-based visualization system was developed called SpatialVis, which visualizes logged data of a video screen capture of the associated user interface for various spatial interactions by the user.

  • Publication number: 20170211428
Abstract: A fluid expander is disclosed as used in conjunction with an air compressor that is driven by a prime mover. The fluid expander is structured to extract useful work from a fluid stream and add that work to the work provided by the prime mover to the compressor. In some embodiments a clutch can be used to decouple the expander from the compressor if insufficient work is developed by the expander. A gear train can also be used to change the rotational speed prior to work being delivered to the compressor.

  • Publication number: 20170058716
Abstract: An integrated power generation system is provided. The system includes an heat source that produces a first gas flow to power a turbine operatively coupled to a compressor. The first gas flow can also heat a feedwater flow passing through a boiler. The compressor can produce a second gas flow that may be divided in two portions, the first portion flowing back to the heat source and the second portion flowing to an end user. Also, the second portion may be routed through an air cooler to dissipate heat to the feedwater flow to cool the second portion as well as preheat the feedwater flow prior to entering the boiler. The first portion can also exchange heat with the first gas flow exiting the boiler prior to the first portion entering the heat source. The boiler operation and the compressor operation are operable independently or concurrently.
