  • Patent number: 11973956
Abstract: Systems and methods for enhanced video encoding identify patterns in sequences of raw digital video frames to extract features and identify the type of content represented by the extracted features. The system simulates many outcomes of encoding the sequence of digital video frames by using various different encoding strategies to find the relative best encoding strategy for each sequence of frames. As the encoder processes video, it passes digital video frames to a modeling system which determines whether the video, or video having that same type of content, has been previously observed by the system. The system then selectively applies a saved encoding strategy that had been determined by the system to be particularly suitable for encoding the same sequence of video frames or that same type of content.

  • Publication number: 20230358415
Abstract: Embodiments include systems and methods for heating water and cooling air simultaneously, as well as other simultaneous heating and cooling operations. An example variable refrigerant flow conditioning system includes an outdoor unit having a compressor, a condenser coil, and a fan, a water heater coupled to the outdoor unit, a first air conditioning unit coupled to the outdoor unit, and a controller. The controller may be configured to determine that a cooling operation mode is active during a first time interval, cause vapor refrigerant to be directed from the outdoor unit to the water heater and liquid refrigerant to be directed from the outdoor unit to the first air conditioning unit, determine that a heating operation mode is active during a second time interval, and cause the vapor refrigerant to be directed from the outdoor unit to both the water heater and the first air conditioning unit.

  • Patent number: 11739952
Abstract: The disclosed technology includes a variable refrigerant flow (VRF) conditioning system including a single outdoor unit and a VRF path extending between the single outdoor unit and a plurality of terminals. The plurality of terminals can include a first terminal configured to condition air of an interior room and a second terminal configured to heat or cool a liquid. The VRF system can provide heating or cooling of air in different rooms or zones within a building or home while also providing heating or cooling of water. In response to a demand for heating or cooling at each terminal, the VRF system can vary the supply of refrigerant to each terminal, such that efficient and precise temperature regulation of air and liquid can be provided.

  • Patent number: 11601715
Abstract: A system and method of adjusting playback of content in response to a viewer's emotional reaction is disclosed. The method includes detecting viewer emotion, via a camera, in reaction to subject matter of the content being presented on a display screen. The content includes subject matter and metadata associated with the subject matter. Additionally, the method analyzes the viewer emotion in reaction to the subject matter of the content presented on the display screen and identifies the analyzed viewer emotion in reaction to the subject matter of the content. The method also associates an identified viewer emotion with at least one playback attribute linked with the presentation of the content using the metadata associated with the subject matter of the content presented on the display screen. Further, the method adjusts the at least one playback attribute linked with presentation of the content that corresponds with the identified viewer emotion.

  • Patent number: 11350168
Abstract: Embodiments are directed towards providing supplemental content to a viewer based on the viewer's environment while the viewer is viewing content. Content is provided to a content receiver for presentation to the viewer. While the viewer is viewing the content, an image of the viewer's environment is captured and analyzed to detect the context of the environment. Supplemental content is selected based on this detected context and presented to the viewer, which allows the supplemental content to be tailored to the viewer. One or more additional images of the viewer's environment are captured while the viewer is viewing the supplemental content and the context of the viewer's environment emotion while the viewer is viewing the supplemental content is detected. This subsequent context is analyzed to determine if the viewer had an expected response to the supplemental content, which can be used to determine the efficiency of the supplemental content.
