  • Patent number: 11147397
Abstract: This document describes a wedge apparatus for retail device display. The techniques described herein provide a seamless graphic panel on an attachment surface that can be used to present any one of a plurality of different hardware devices on a complex plastic-injection molded assembly. The attachment surface of the wedge apparatus includes a single surface with a plurality of hole patterns, each usable for mounting a different hardware device for retail display. The wedge apparatus provides connection points for attachment of an interchangeable graphic panel, which includes a single hole-pattern accommodating one of the plurality of devices to be displayed. The seamless joining of the various parts of the wedge apparatus enables the graphic panel to be wrapped around the wedge apparatus without a seam being visible through the material of the graphic panel.

  • Publication number: 20210304782
Abstract: A pervasive listening method including steps of inserting at least one forced gap in a playback signal (thus generating a modified playback signal), and during playback of the modified playback signal, monitoring non-playback content (e.g., including by generating an estimate of background noise) in a playback environment using output of a microphone in the playback environment. Optionally, the method includes generation of the playback signal, including by processing of (e.g., performing noise compensation on) an input signal using a result (e.g., a background noise estimate) of the monitoring of non-playback content. Other aspects are systems configured to perform any embodiment of the pervasive listening method.

  • Patent number: 11116306
Abstract: A pump assembly for a dental cleaning appliance includes a fluid chamber, a piston, and a drive. Magnets, connected respectively to the piston and the drive, enable the drive to couple to the piston and move it within the fluid chamber to draw fluid into the fluid chamber. A stop prevents the piston from being pulled beyond a stop position so that through continued actuation of the drive the magnets separate to allow a spring to push the piston away from the stop position to urge a burst of fluid from the fluid chamber.

  • Publication number: 20210249029
Abstract: A noise estimation method including steps of generating gap confidence values in response to microphone output and playback signals, and using the gap confidence values to generate an estimate of background noise in a playback environment. Each gap confidence value is indicative of confidence of presence of a gap at a corresponding time in the playback signal, and may be a combination of candidate noise estimates weighted by the gap confidence values. Generation of the candidate noise estimates may but need not include performance of echo cancellation. Optionally, noise compensation is performed on an audio input signal using the generated background noise estimate. Other aspects are systems configured to perform any embodiment of the noise estimation method.

  • Patent number: 11076940
Abstract: A dental cleaning appliance includes a handle and a fluid delivery system. The fluid delivery system includes a nozzle for delivering a burst of working fluid to the teeth of a user. A contact member for engaging the teeth of the user is moveable relative to the nozzle as the appliance is moved along the teeth of the user. A sensor provides an output which varies with movement of contact member relative to the nozzle. A control circuit actuates the delivery of working fluid to the teeth of the user depending on the output from the sensor.

  • Patent number: 11033371
Abstract: A pump assembly for a dental cleaning appliance includes a fluid chamber, a piston, and a drive. The drive rotates a coupling member having two angularly opposed pins. An arm pivotably connected to the piston has a seat for receiving one of the pins to couple the piston to the drive. Through continued rotation of the coupling member, the piston moves within the fluid chamber to draw fluid into the fluid chamber until the second detent contacts the arm to push it away from the first detent to decouple the drive from the piston. This allows a compressed spring to actuate the piston to urge a burst of fluid from the fluid chamber.

  • Patent number: 10948374
Abstract: A tub drain overflow test system employs a kit with a connecting pipe with a front cylindrical portion having an inner threading and an intermediate annular flange coaxial with the front cylindrical portion. The front cylindrical portion extends through an overflow hole of a tub so that the annular flange, optionally with a seal ring, abuts the rear surface of the tub wall. A test cap has outer threading that mates with inner threading of the front cylindrical portion. The test cap has an annular flange and a breakaway test seal with a projecting grip tab. The test cap has an inner lip that provides a catch for inwardly extending tabs on a fixture to attach. The test cap allows the overflow drain to be tested. A seal portion is removed to provide access to the opening and the finishing fixture is mounted in place.

  • Publication number: 20210035563
Abstract: In some embodiments, methods and systems for training an acoustic model, where the training includes a training loop (including at least one epoch) following a data preparation phase. During the training loop, training data are augmented to generate augmented training data. During each epoch of the training loop, at least some of the augmented training data is used to train the model. The augmented training data used during each epoch may be generated by differently augmenting (e.g., augmenting using a different set of augmentation parameters) at least some of the training data. In some embodiments, the augmentation is performed in the frequency domain, with the training data organized into frequency bands. The acoustic model may be of a type employed (when trained) to perform speech analytics (e.g., wakeword detection, voice activity detection, speech recognition, or speaker recognition) and/or noise suppression.
