    Abstract: An aircraft cockpit training simulator includes a plurality of aircraft cockpit simulation panels and power over Ethernet (POE) cabling extending therebetween. Each panel includes a simulator user interface device, an input circuit or an output circuit, a POE interface circuit, and a distributed controller coupled to the input circuit or output circuit and POE interface device and asynchronously communicating with other controllers using a publish/subscribe protocol. A host controller is coupled to the distributed controllers via the POE cabling and operates the aircraft cockpit simulation panels using a host computer model. The distributed controllers may operate independent of the host computer model.

By converting a protocol of the communications received from the device to a protocol used by the central processing center, minimal modifications to the central processing center are needed to support a wireless communication infrastructure. Many restrictions and safeguards may be implemented within the phone and system in order to prevent improper use.

The methods include attaching highly charged molecules to a free end of a DNA molecule to transform the DNA molecule into a pseudo dipole. Upon applying an external electric field, the charge separation may cause the DNA to extend and/or to align with the electric field lines. This approach offers a practical means to achieve a controlled, unfolded state of DNA with a predetermined orientation.

    Abstract: An online system receives orders from users and dispatches pickers to fulfill the orders by obtaining ordered items at a retailer. If an ordered item cannot be found by a picker, the picker may refund the item or attempt to find a replacement item. While obtaining a replacement item may increase revenue to the online system, it can also cause a bad outcome for user experience (e.g., an unacceptable replacement item, a refund request of the replacement item, etc.). To balance these interests, the online system trains a model to predict an outcome metric comprising a likelihood of a bad outcome from replacing an item or an expected amount of profit to the online system from a replacement item. The online system compares the outcome metric to a threshold to determine whether to promote or dissuade the picker from replacing a not-found item.

A securing bracket attaches to merchandise and has a latch plate configured to couple to the quick-release interface of the pedestal. A latch disposed within the pedestal engages the latch plate to lock the securing bracket relative to the quick-release interface. An electromechanical actuator is housed within an actuation module and is operatively connected to the latch. Upon actuation, the electromechanical actuator disengages the latch from the latch plate, thereby releasing the securing bracket from the pedestal.
