  • Patent number: 8539141
Abstract: A method for accessing a non volatile memory device including at least one group or sector of memory cells divided into regions programmable with two different data storage densities and accessible with at least two reading modes, for example a two-level mode and a multilevel mode. The memory regions are being organized into pages including a sub-group of memory cells for storing error correction codes of the data stored in the multilevel mode. The method includes providing at the beginning of each page at least one first cell wherein the information concerning the ECC protection or not of the whole page is to be stored. In the sub-group of cells at least one second cell intended for the storage of information concerning the programmed or erased state of the same page is provided. The content of the first and of the second cell is read before accessing, in programming, the corresponding page of the memory region.

Abstract: A method of characterizing a digital image, in which a point of interest (PI) in the detected in the image. For each ? of a plurality I of different prescribed orientations in the digital image a family {f?(k)(n)}1?K?K of K one-dimensional lines f?(k)(n) of points is extracted from a region (RPI) of the image along K straight lines of orientation (?), and for each line f?(k)(n) and for each sub-sampling level s, a foveal energy signal E?,s(k)(n) is calculated using foveal wavelets. The signals E?,s(k)(n)) on the K lines and their arguments n are used to calculate a foveal signature SI characterizing the working region.

  • Patent number: 7856123
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for recognizing faces in digital images consisting in providing for a knowledge base which contains face images and is hierarchical into several classes each of which comprises different images of the same person. The invention relates to pre-processing said knowledge base in such a way that a minimization of variance in each class and a maximization of variance between different classes are simultaneously obtainable, thereby making it possible to form a vectorial base comprising the discriminant component of said knowledge base. The comparison of a recognizable face with a pre-processed reference face such as the knowledge base and an eventual reconstruction of a recognized face are also disclosed.

  • Patent number: 7616814
Abstract: Pixels are classified as text; or “non-text” by responding to accumulated luminous brightness gradients within a predetermined pixel interior. Text and non-text image characteristics rest on estimating text-containing rectangles by determining a narrow width and a height of a peak in an interval of accumulated gradients around each pixel. The text characteristics also are inferred by detecting character corners by quantifying and smoothing gradient angles and by associating directional corner responses with each pixel.

  • Patent number: 7577842
Abstract: The invention relates in particular to a method of scrambling a video signal using an encryption key for controlling access to audiovisual information. The video signal is scrambled by applying a tattooing function to the video signal by using a marking key derived from the encryption key, the tattooing function including a parameter for regulating the amplitude of tattooing so as to enable the visibility of the tattooing in the video signal to be adjusted. The invention also provides a dual unscrambling method, and a system, an encoder, a decoder, a broadcast server, and a data medium for implementing said methods.

  • Patent number: 7341065
Abstract: Methods of preventing air-liquid interfaces on the surface of a wafer in order to prevent the formation of particle defects on a wafer are presented. The air-liquid interfaces may be prevented by covering the entire surface of the wafer with liquid at all times during a cleaning process while the surface of the wafer is hydrophobic. Methods of preventing the formation of silica agglomerates in a liquid during a pH transition from an alkaline pH to a neutral pH are also presented, including minimizing the turbulence in the liquid solution and reducing the temperature of the liquid solution during the transition.

  • Patent number: 7340612
Abstract: A method for registering a device in a wireless network comprising a central controller. The method includes the step of asking a user whether he wants to install a new network or install a device on the network. In the case of installing a new network, the user enters a PIN code, an authentication key of the new network is generated and the device becomes the central controller. In the case of installing the device on an existing network, the user enters a PIN code, and upon authorization, receives an authentication key of the network for use in authenticating procedures with the central controller.
