  • Patent number: 11644299
Abstract: A scanning probe for a coordinate measuring machine with inductive position sensor signal gain control is provided. The scanning probe includes a stylus position detection portion with field generating and sensing coils, and for which corresponding output signals are indicative of a position of the probe tip of the stylus. Signal processing and control circuitry is configured to implement different operating regions, such as a central high gain operating region which corresponds to a central probe tip position range, as well as other lower gain operating regions, and for which transition operations may be performed for adjusting the gain. In various implementations, transition operations for adjusting a gain may include operations such as: adjusting power to a field generating coil configuration; adjusting a gain of a front end amplifier; altering characteristics of sensing coils; adjusting an input range of an analog to digital converter, etc.

  • Patent number: 11630692
Abstract: Techniques are disclosed for efficient utilization worker threads in a workflow-as-a-service (WFaaS) environment. A client device may request a workflow for execution by the client device. The client device may receive the requested workflow and initialize a set of worker threads to execute the workflow and a set of heartbeater threads to monitor the set of worker threads. Upon receiving an indication of a processing delay, the client device may capture the state of the workflow, suspend execution of the workflow, and store the workflow in a temporary queue. While the processing delay persists, the client device may use the set of worker threads to execute other tasks. When the processing delay terminates, the client device may resume execution of the workflow.

  • Publication number: 20230092908
Abstract: A database system may include a database service and a separate distributed storage service. The database service (or a database engine head node thereof) may be responsible for query parsing, optimization, and execution, transactionality, and consistency, while the storage service may be responsible for generating data pages from redo log records and for durability of those data pages. For example, in response to a write request directed to a particular data page, the database engine head node may generate a redo log record and send it, but not the data page, to a storage service node. The storage service node may store the redo log record and return a write acknowledgement to the database service prior to applying the redo log record. The server node may apply the redo log record and other redo log records to a previously stored version of the data page to create a current version.

  • Patent number: 11609890
Abstract: A transaction request compliant with a first version of a journal schema of a multi-data-store storage system is received at a journal manager. The journal schema indicates attributes of data objects which may be materialized at various data stores of the system. The journal manager stores an entry in the system's journal if the transaction meets acceptance criteria. Writes indicated in the entry are materialized at the data stores after verifying that the entry is compliant with the journal schema. After verifying that member data stores have approved a proposed change to the journal schema, another entry indicating a different version of the journal schema is added to the journal. Client-side components of the system obtain the current version of the journal schema to prepare the transaction requests.

  • Patent number: 11599520
Abstract: A query restriction descriptor indicating one or more attributes of a data object of a multi-data-store storage system is determined at a client-side component of the system. The query restrictions descriptor is used to prepare at least a read set descriptor of a proposed transaction. The read set of the proposed transaction includes a query with a predicate directed to the one or more attributes. A transformation function is applied to the predicate, and the result of the transformation is included in the read set descriptor. The proposed transaction is sent to a journal manager of the system, which performs read-write conflict detection using the read set descriptor and write set descriptors of one or more previously-committed transactions.

  • Patent number: 11592955
Abstract: A process builds a view of a dataset. The process displays a graphical user interface window, including: a schema display region; a visualization region; and a shelf region that includes multiple shelves. The process detects user input to place a data field icon from the schema display region into the visualization region. Upon ceasing to detect the user input, the process associates the data field icon with a first shelf according to its data type and data types corresponding to other data field icons, if any, previously associated with the shelves, and then places the first data field icon within the first shelf. The method further includes determining a view type based on the data field icon and the association of the data field icon with the first shelf, and generating a graphical representation in the visualization region in accordance with the determined view type.

  • Patent number: 11586346
Abstract: A method displays a chart including visual marks representing a dataset. The chart is based on content of displayed shelf regions, each determining a respective characteristic of the visual marks. The method generates a visual analytic object by applying a first analytic operation to the dataset, and displays the visual analytic object over the chart. The method detects user input to select the displayed visual analytic object and place an icon representing the visual analytic object onto a first shelf region. The first shelf region defines a first characteristic of the visual marks. In response to the user input, the method updates content of the first shelf region to specify association with the first analytic operation and updates the first characteristic of the visual marks in the chart based on values of the set of data represented by the visual marks relative to values computed by the first analytic operation.

  • Publication number: 20230037179
Abstract: An electronic device displays a chart, which includes a first set of visual marks that represent values derived from a set of data. The device concurrently displays a chart-calculations-options area. The chart-calculations-options area displays a first plurality of options for type of calculation. The device detects user selection of (i) a first option, from the first plurality of options, for type of calculation and (ii) a second option corresponding to a parameter for the selected first option. In response to detecting the user selection, the device visually distinguishes visual marks in a second set of visual marks in the chart. The second set of visual marks is distinct from the first set of visual marks and corresponds to the first option for type of calculation and the second option corresponding to the parameter for the selected first option.

  • Patent number: 11568524
Abstract: Techniques are disclosed for changing the identities of faces in images. In embodiments, a tunable model for changing facial identities in images includes an encoder, a decoder, and dense layers that generate either adaptive instance normalization (AdaIN) coefficients that control the operation of convolution layers in the decoder or the values of weights within such convolution layers, allowing the model to change the identity of a face in an image based on a user selection. A separate set of dense layers may be trained to generate AdaIN coefficients for each of a number of facial identities, and the AdaIN coefficients output by different sets of dense layers can be combined to interpolate between facial identities. Alternatively, a single set of dense layers may be trained to take as input an identity vector and output AdaIN coefficients or values of weighs within convolution layers of the decoder.

  • Publication number: 20230009121
Abstract: A system includes a computing platform having a hardware processor and a memory storing a software code and a neural network (NN) having multiple layers including a last activation layer and a loss layer. The hardware processor executes the software code to identify different combinations of layers for testing the NN, each combination including candidate function(s) for the last activation layer and candidate function(s) for the loss layer. For each different combination, the software code configures the NN based on the combination, inputs, into the configured NN, a training dataset including multiple data objects, receives, from the configured NN, a classification of the data objects, and generates a performance assessment for the combination based on the classification. The software code determines a preferred combination of layers for the NN including selected candidate functions for the last activation layer and the loss layer, based on a comparison of the performance assessments.

  • Publication number: 20230011774
Abstract: Aspects of the present disclosure are directed to defining an artificial reality environment (XRE) and controlling interactions between various artificial reality actors with a defined XRE schema. The XRE schema includes a set of definitions for an XRE, independent of type of artificial reality device. The definitions in the XRE schema can include standards for both interfaces and data objects. The XRE schema can define XR elements in terms of entities and components of a space, organized according to a hierarchy. Each entity can represent a real or virtual object or space, within the XRE, defined by a name and a collection of one or more components. Each component (as part of an entity) can define aspects and expose information about the entity. The XRE schema can specify structures that that allow actors (e.g., producers, instantiators, and consumers) to define and perform actions in relation to XRE elements.
