  • Patent number: 10669998
Abstract: A system, for storing and generating electrical energy in an aquatic environment, comprising: a plurality of weights (135) attached to an underwater PAP platform (131) positioned at a sufficient depth to avoid surface currents and the effects of bad weather. a generator lift (100), arranged to cooperate with the weights (135) and, in generation mode, to allow said weights to descend to the bottom zone (126) and, in drive mode, to raise them back up towards the surface (125); a main underwater platform which is positioned at a sufficient depth to avoid surface currents and the effects of bad weather (101) and is capable of supporting the upper portion of the generator lift (100) below the surface; a reversible motor (102), cooperating with the generator lift (100) and allowing, in generation mode, the production of electrical energy due to the action of the weights (135) as they descend, and, in drive mode, actuation of the generator lift (100) to raise the weights (135) back up.

  • Publication number: 20200164799
Abstract: Methods, apparatuses, and computer-readable media are disclosed for providing a mixed-reality scene. In response to a pedestrian detection event at a first vehicle, a sequence of mixed-reality images is presented to a driver of a second vehicle. At least one image in the sequence of mixed-reality images results from merging (a) an image captured by a camera aboard the first vehicle and (b) an image captured by a camera aboard the second vehicle. The merging may comprise de-emphasizing an occluded portion of the image captured by the camera aboard the second vehicle and emphasizing an unoccluded portion of the image captured by the camera aboard the first vehicle. The unoccluded portion of the image captured by the camera aboard the first vehicle may provide, in the merged image, visibility of a pedestrian at least partially blocked from a view of the driver of the second vehicle.

  • Publication number: 20200131706
Abstract: The invention provides calendered tissue webs and products produced by passing a tissue web through a calender nip created by a patterned roll having a first pattern and a second pattern thereon and a substantially smooth roll. As the web is transported through the nip it is subjected to variable calender loads that impart variable cross-machine (CD) direction properties to the resulting calendered web. CD properties that may be varied according to the present invention include sheet caliper, sheet bulk and surface smoothness. The variable CD property may be preserved in the web as it is further converted, such as winding about a core, resulting in tissue products having physical properties that vary along at least one dimension of the product.

  • Patent number: 10607416
Abstract: Methods, apparatuses, and computer-readable media are presented for providing a mixed-reality scene involving a lead vehicle and a following vehicle. The system may present a sequence of mixed-reality images to a driver of the following vehicle, resulting from merging (a) an image captured by a camera aboard the lead vehicle and (b) an image captured by a camera aboard the following vehicle, to generate a merged image. The system may discontinue or diminish mixed-reality content of the sequence of mixed-reality images in response to one or more detected conditions, which may comprise detection of an object between the lead vehicle and the following vehicle.

  • Publication number: 20200086789
Abstract: Methods, apparatuses, and computer-readable media are disclosed for providing a mixed-reality scene. According to one embodiment, a sequence of mixed-reality images is presented to a driver of a first vehicle, the first vehicle oriented in a substantially opposing direction relative to a second vehicle. At least one image in the sequence of mixed-reality images may result from merging (a) an image captured by a forward-facing camera aboard the first vehicle and (b) an image captured by a rear-facing camera aboard the second vehicle. The merging may comprise de-emphasizing an occluded portion of the image captured by the forward-facing camera aboard the first vehicle, the occluded portion corresponding to occlusion by the second vehicle, and emphasizing an unoccluded portion of the image captured by the rear-facing camera aboard the second vehicle.

  • Publication number: 20200066055
Abstract: A method, system, computer-readable media, and apparatuses for providing a shared vehicle experience between a user located in a remote location and one or more occupants of a vehicle. A device associated with the user receives an exterior video stream corresponding to an exterior environment of the vehicle, along with occupant information comprising location of the one or more occupants in the vehicle. Based on the occupant information, a first augmented video stream is generated. The first augmented video stream comprises one or more dynamic avatars representing each of the occupants of the vehicle, and shows the exterior environment of the vehicle from a perspective of a virtual passenger of the vehicle. The first augmented video stream is displayed to the user to provide the user with an experience of being in the vehicle.

  • Patent number: 10508747
Abstract: Apparatus to bias spool valves using supply pressure are disclosed. An example apparatus includes a sleeve of a spool valve, and a spool within the sleeve to control a flow of fluid at a supply pressure through the spool valve as the spool is moved relative to the sleeve in response to a variable input force. A biasing force is to bias the spool opposite the variable input force. The biasing force is to be generated from a biasing pressure of the fluid within a chamber adjacent a biasing end of the spool. The biasing pressure is to be based on the fluid at the supply pressure provided directly to the chamber from a supply of the fluid independent of the flow of the fluid through the spool valve.
