  • Patent number: 10148985
Abstract: One or more computing devices may be configured to identify information corresponding to a program change request associated with a multi-program data transmission. The information may comprise at least a link to a desired program within the multi-program data transmission. The one or more computing devices may communicate the link to the desired program to a client device over a specified time period. After the time period, the one or more computing devices may communicate the desired program to the client device using a single program data transmission. The single program data transmission may be derived from the multi-program data transmission.

  • Patent number: 10116754
Abstract: Dynamic configuration of identifiers of a computing device is described. A computing device may assign identifiers to interfaces, and may send one or more requests through one or more of the interfaces to access a network. A response to the request may be analyzed to determine whether it includes a code that the device understands to be from the network. If the response did not include such a code, the device may determine whether to re-assign the identifier currently assigned to a primary or default interface to another interface of the multiple interfaces.

  • Publication number: 20180288122
Abstract: By way of example, a method, apparatus, system, and software are described for using a previously-identified location within content, such as a splash screen indicating a transition between main program content and a commercial segment, to skip to a subsequent location in the content, such as a location at which a subsequent appearance of the splash screen is detected. This may allow for an at least partially automated recognition-based content skipping feature.

  • Publication number: 20180227333
Abstract: The disclosure relates to tracking commands and data received from many sources. A device may receive a command from a user and forward the command to a network device. The device may also receive data from the network device and may determine whether the received data indicates that a previously forwarded command was received by the network device. If the received data does not indicate that the command was received, the device may perform one or more actions, such as resending the command.

  • Publication number: 20180129652
Abstract: A method receives, by a first user device, content from a second user device. The content was previously provided through a transmission from a distribution system to the second user device. The method receives, by the first user device from the second user device, transmission data indicative of the previous transmission of the content from the distribution system to the second user device. The method sends, by the first user device to a server, a request for program data associated with the content. Responsive to the request, the method receives, by the first user device, the program data that identifies a title of the content. The program data is identified using the transmission data that is specific to the previous transmission of the content.

  • Publication number: 20180047265
Abstract: Methods are disclosed that, in some aspects, provide for the determination of alarm events or non-alarm events based on data received from various sensors monitoring one or more entry points of a premises. Non-alarm events may, for example, include a seismic event or a knock event. Determining whether the data received from the various sensors is an alarm or non-alarm event may be based on data received from two or more sensors monitoring two or more entry points of the premises. Further, data related to the non-alarm event that occurred at the premise may be compared to data related to non-alarm events that occurred at other premises and, based on the comparison, one or more authorities may be alerted to the non-alarm event.

  • Patent number: 9886434
Abstract: A process receives content from a recording device. The content is provided through a transmission from a distribution system to the recording device and recorded by the recording device on a storage medium associated with the recording device. Further, the process receives, from the recording device, transmission data corresponding to the recorded content. The transmission data indicates one or more transmission identifiers that identify the transmission. In addition, the process sends the transmission data to a server. Finally, the process receives, from the server, program data that is descriptive of the content.

  • Publication number: 20170374396
Abstract: Data (e.g., images, video, data fields, character strings, logos, etc.) may be analyzed to identify common elements and differentiating elements, and the elements may be respectively transmitted using different streams. For example, if two devices are receiving two video images that are nearly the same, a first data stream comprising the one or more identified common elements may be sent to them both, a second data stream comprising a portion of the one or more identified differentiating elements may be transmitted to the first device, and a third data stream comprising a different portion of the one or more identified differentiating elements may be transmitted to the second device.

  • Publication number: 20170330100
Abstract: A system for storing and moving data based on the location of a user or a change in location of a user is described herein. Data associated with a user may be stored at one or more storage devices associated with a location of the user. Some or all of the data associated with the user may be moved to one or more other storage devices if, for example, the user moves to a different location or is expected to move to a different location, so that the user's data may be more efficiently accessed by the user.

  • Patent number: 9653094
Abstract: Systems and methods are configured to process audio signals to identify content-types. Audio content is received at an audio decoder which decodes the audio content. The decoded audio content is segmented into frames by applying a windowing function to a given audio frame using a window having a time width related to a delay time of the decoder. A power spectrum estimate of a given frame is determined. A mel filter bank is applied to the power spectrum of the frame. A DCT matrix is applied to filter bank energies to generate a DCT output. A log of the DCT output is used to generate a mel coefficient 1. A threshold for the content is dynamically determined. The mel coefficient 1 and the dynamically determined threshold are used to detect a near silence between content-types and to identify the content-types.

  • Publication number: 20160381656
Abstract: A communications access point may provide access to a wireless communications network to a user device located at a first location. The communications access point may determine that the user device is moving from the first location to a second location where access to the wireless network is limited or not available. In response to the determination, the communications access point may provide access to the wireless network at the second location by extending a coverage area of the wireless network.
