Abstract: Multiple User Interface (UI) states may be identified and encoded into encoded UI states. Each of the encoded UI states may comprise an image of one or more of the UI states and metadata associating the encoded UI state with one or more other encoded UI states that comprise an image of a UI state that is navigationally related to one or more of the UI states encoded in the encoded UI state. A portion of the encoded UI states may be communicated to one or more user devices.

Abstract: The disclosure relates to tracking commands and data received from many sources. A device may receive a command from a user and forward the command to a network device. The device may also receive data from the network device and may determine whether the received data indicates that a previously forwarded command was received by the network device. If the received data does not indicate that the command was received, the device may perform one or more actions, such as resending the command.

Abstract: Data (e.g., images, video, data fields, character strings, logos, etc.) may be analyzed to identify common elements and differentiating elements, and the elements may be respectively transmitted using different streams. For example, if two devices are receiving two video images that are nearly the same, a first data stream comprising the one or more identified common elements may be sent to them both, a second data stream comprising a portion of the one or more identified differentiating elements may be transmitted to the first device, and a third data stream comprising a different portion of the one or more identified differentiating elements may be transmitted to the second device.

An input port may be configured to receive a first plurality of bit stream audio channels. A circuit may optionally be configured to enhance artifacting, noise, and/or bit rate errors and may optionally reduce redundant signal information. A signal processor circuit may be configured to transform the first plurality of bit stream audio channels into a frequency domain. A spectrum analysis system may be configured to compare properties of the first plurality of bit stream audio channels to one or more reference signals. An identification circuit may be configured to identify different content types included in the first plurality of bit stream audio channels.

Abstract: By way of example, a method, apparatus, system, and software are described for using a previously-identified location within content, such as a splash screen indicating a transition between main program content and a commercial segment, to skip to a subsequent location in the content, such as a location at which a subsequent appearance of the splash screen is detected. This may allow for an at least partially automated recognition-based content skipping feature.

Abstract: A mobile storage system is disclosed that in one aspect identifies a geographical location change of a user, such as movement from a first geographical location to a second geographical location. In response, the mobile storage system may move the user's information to a storage device associated with the second geographical location so that the user's information may be accessed by the user more efficiently.

Abstract: A communications access point may provide access to a wireless communications network to a user device located at a first location. The communications access point may determine that the user device is moving from the first location to a second location where access to the wireless network is limited or not available. In response to the determination, the communications access point may provide access to the wireless network at the second location by extending a coverage area of the wireless network.

Abstract: System and methods for providing a user experience are described, including a method comprising identifying a user, determining a profile of the user, determining a parameter of a user experience, and automatically modifying the parameter of the user experience based upon the profile of the user.

Abstract: A mobile storage system is disclosed that in one aspect identifies a geographical location change of a user, such as movement from a first geographical location to a second geographical location. In response, the mobile storage system may move the user's information to a storage device associated with the second geographical location so that the user's information may be accessed by the user more efficiently.

Abstract: A rhinestone placement system and method provides a moving pickup head with self-contained vacuum supply for vacuum assisted pickup of rhinestones. The pickup head includes an adhesive property gasket portion that in cooperation with the vacuum supply temporarily holds a rhinestone for movement to a placement position.

Abstract: A process receives content from a recording device. The content is provided through a transmission from a distribution system to the recording device and recorded by the recording device on a storage medium associated with the recording device. Further, the process receives, from the recording device, transmission data corresponding to the recorded content. The transmission data indicates one or more transmission identifiers that identify the transmission. In addition, the process sends the transmission data to a server. Finally, the process receives, from the server, program data that is descriptive of the content.

Abstract: A back for a patient chair with which a patient may be moved from a generally upright sitting position to a generally supine position comprises a back shell and a cushion. The back shell has a front surface, a back surface, a top, a bottom, opposed first and second outer sides, a central section extending longitudinally from a region adjacent the top to a region adjacent the bottom and opposed side sections extending laterally outwardly from the central section toward the first and second outer sides. The cushion is attached to the back shell. The central section of the back shell comprises a plurality of stiffening elements that extend longitudinally of the back shell. A patient chair including the back is also described.

Abstract: Method and apparatus for establishing audio/video (AV) formats for sink devices is described. In one example, a connection event is detected on a link between a source device and a sink device. AV capability data is received at the source device from the sink device in response to the connection event. For example, the AV capability data may be obtained at the source device by reading at least one of an extended display identification (EDID) data structure and an enhanced extended display identification (E-EDID) data structure. A determination is made whether the AV capability data is identical to prior AV capability data previously stored in the source device. If so, a first AV format of a signal transmitted from the source device to the sink device is maintained in accordance with the previously stored AV capability data. Otherwise, the AV capability data is parsed to determine a second AV format.

Abstract: Selected patterns of lights are displayed on a recreational conveyance such as a snowboard according to the motion of the board. A selection of patterns is stored in a processor memory, the motion of the board is measured (for example with accelerometers) and a pattern is selected from memory based on the measured motion. Then lights on the board are blinked on and off in the selected pattern. Accelerometer inputs are analyzed and a series of states is derived for each accelerometer axis. A series of states can be analyzed as a set to select a different pattern. Also, the magnitude of the states (such as duration, speed, or intensity) may affect the pattern selected. The process may be adaptive, so that the analyzing step further analyzes user weight or past snowboarding style to set adaptive thresholds for selecting patterns.

Abstract: A set top box is provided that includes a receiver/tuner for receiving programming content over a broadband communications network, an encrypter/decrypter for encrypting and decrypting the programming content, and a secure memory configured to store at least a first cryptography key to be used by the encrypter/decrypter to encrypt and decrypt the programming content. The set top box also includes a digital storage medium for storing encrypted programming content, a multimedia processor operationally associated with the receiver/tuner, the decrypter, and the digital storage medium, and a user interface operationally associated with the multimedia processor.

Abstract: A set top box is provided that includes a receiver/tuner for receiving programming content over a broadband communications network, a secure memory configured to store at least a first cryptography key to be used to encrypt and decrypt the programming content, and a digital storage medium for storing encrypted programming content. The set top box also includes a multimedia processor operationally associated with the receiver/tuner, the secure memory, and the digital storage medium. The multimedia processor is configured to: encrypt programming content using the first cryptography key stored in the secure memory and uniquely associated with the set top box; store the encrypted content on the digital storage medium; encrypt the first cryptography key using an asymmetric public encryption key to form an encrypted first cryptography key; and store the encrypted first cryptography key on the digital storage medium.

Abstract: A method (40), system (10) and control device (14) are provided for delivering information, such as Emergency Alert System (EAS) information, to one or more client devices (16) in a network, e.g., a home network or business network. The control device (14), which is connected to the client devices (16) via a suitable home or business network connection, receives information, such as EAS information, from an appropriate transmission source (22). The control device (14) performs any one or more of a number of functions that allows the information to be properly received by appropriate client devices (16). Such functions include formatting or encoding the information as needed by the client devices (16) to properly receive the information. Also, using a tuner (38), the control device (14) can be tuned to an appropriate channel for providing the information to the appropriate client devices (16).

Abstract: A set-top box (10) encodes formatted graphics, such as scrolling text of an Emergency Alert System (EAS) message, so that they can be delivered via a compressed digital video interface (14), such as an IEEE-1394 interface, and properly displayed on a digital television set (12) that cannot itself interpret such graphics.

Abstract: The invention is a microphone bleed simulator which processes the audio signals recorded with one spot microphone and one room mic (or one spot mic alone) and simulates the sound that would be created in a typical studio recording environment wherein multiple spot microphones and multiple room microphones distributed throughout that environment all pick up sounds from any given sound source. Such multiple microphone contributions to the mixed sound are what imbue actual recordings with much of their characteristic sound quality and sense of realism, and what make recordings of ensemble instruments sound as though the players were performing together in one place. The system and method of the invention artificially simulates this natural microphone bleed and provides the means to create scaleable, realistic multi-channel sound mixes in formats such as stereo, 5.1 and 7.1 surround. The invention is particularly well suited to processing sampled or synthesized sound.
