  • Patent number: 7561935
Abstract: Integrated processing of multimedia signals can eliminate unnecessary signal processors and converters without losing the functionality of typical home entertainment system components. The integrated multimedia system includes a main player that captures and processes signals digitally. The main player may adjust the audio signal to provide audio output of equal loudness across all frequencies by accounting for sensitivity of the human ear for sounds of varying frequencies. The main player can also account for perceived differences in loudness based on the angle of a listener to a speaker by detecting the position of a user and making an adjustment accordingly. The invention further provides a speaker that has embedded performance characteristics or an identifier that allows the system to provide an optimal speaker driving current for a particular system or determine how that speaker would be best implemented in the integrated system.

  • Publication number: 20080194784
Abstract: Provided are entrapped ?-cyclodextrin polymers and a method of preparing the same. Particularly, entrapped ?-cyclodextrin polymers are prepared by adding epichlorohydrin to ?-cyclodextrin to prepare a polymer in a gel state, entrapping the polymer by entrapment of metal ions on the surface of the polymer and pulverizing the entrapped polymer to prepare powders. According to the entrapped ?-cyclodextrin polymers, steroid hormones contained in a biological sample can be simply extracted without using an additional device required in conventional solid-phase extraction.

  • Publication number: 20080076181
Abstract: Disclosed is a method of extracting all metabolites existing in a biological sample to detect a comprehensive difference between metabolites of a control group and a test group, thereby verifying significance thereof. More particularly, the invention comprises a first step of analyzing a fraction extracted with a solid phase extraction method, a fraction obtained by extracting the remnant fraction with a liquid-liquid extraction method and fractions extracted with the liquid-liquid extraction method at two pH different from each other after the hydrolysis, with a gas chromatography-mass spectrometry; a second step of converting the chromatogram result into numerical values capable of being statistically processed; and a third step of analyzing the numerical values with a principal component analysis (PCA) and a discriminant analysis (DA) to detect a difference between the control group and the test group.

  • Publication number: 20070257755
Abstract: A magnetic flux coupling-type superconducting current limiter is capable of protecting lines more effectively by winding reactors of a primary coil and a secondary coil in series in the structure where the primary coil and the secondary coils are wound in parallel in the conventional magnetic flux-lock type current limiter to increase a linked flux generated from an iron core. An electric conducting current which rapidly increases when a fault occurs is divided into the secondary coil and a superconducting coil to decrease a load on the superconducting element and it is opened more rapidly than the existing superconducting current limiter during a quench time such that it better limits a fault current.

  • Patent number: 7130325
Abstract: The present invention relates to a semiconductor laser, having a construction capable of tuning a wavelength, in which a sampled grating distributed feedback SG-DFB structure portion and a sampled grating distributed Bragg reflector SG-DBR structure portion are integrated. In the present invention, the refraction index are varied in accordance with a current applied to the phase control area in the SG-DFB structure portion and the SG-DBR structure portion, whereby it is possible to continuously or discontinuously tune the wavelength. Therefore, in such a wavelength tunable semiconductor laser, its construction is relatively simple, and it is relatively useful to the manufacturing and mass-producing the semiconductor laser. In addition, such a wavelength tunable semiconductor laser has an excellent output optical efficiency while making it possible to tune the wavelength of the wide band.
