  • Publication number: 20170194209
Abstract: In a method of manufacturing a semiconductor device, a dummy gate structure is formed over a substrate. A first insulating layer is formed over the dummy gate structure. The dummy gate structure is removed so as to form a gate space in the first insulating layer. A first conductive layer is formed in the gate space so as to form a reduced gate space. The reduced gate space is filled with a second conductive layer made of a different material from the first conductive layer. The filled first conductive layer and the second conductive layer are recessed so as to form a first gate recess. A third conductive layer is formed over the first conductive layer and the second conductive layer in the first gate recess. After recessing the filled first conductive layer and the second conductive layer, the second conductive layer protrudes from the first conductive layer.

  • Patent number: 9686463
Abstract: Systems and methods for continuous automatic focus are disclosed. In some aspects, an object to focus on is selected from a field of view of a camera. At least one region of the field of view that includes the object is monitored for change. Regions of the field of view that do not include the object may not be monitored, thus improving efficiency and speed. If a change in the image content of the monitored region(s) occurs, the method may trigger a focus event. If the object moves to different region(s) of the field of view, the method detects the movement and adjusts the regions of the image being monitored to maintain focus on the object. In some aspects, the size of the object is also monitored. If the size of the object changes, a focus event may be triggered, depending on whether the amount of change exceeds predetermined parameters.

  • Patent number: 8861969
Abstract: A laser source is configured for all-optical AM-FM up-conversion. In one exemplary embodiment, an amplitude modulated (AM) optical input signal containing a baseband signal at a sub-microwave frequency, is injected into the laser source. The amplitude of the AM optical input signal and the optical carrier frequency are adjusted so as to place the laser source in a period-one dynamical state characterized by a transitioning of the laser source from a free-running optical frequency to at least two optical frequencies having a separation distance equal to a period-one microwave frequency. As a result of the period-one dynamical state, a frequency modulated (FM) optical output signal containing the baseband signal carried at the period-one microwave frequency, is propagated out of the laser source. The period-one microwave frequency is operative as a sub-carrier signal.
