    Abstract: Techniques that may be used for detecting a primary content (e.g., a web page) that the user is viewing and presenting one or more pieces of supplemental content (e.g., social media data) together with the primary content. The supplemental content presented to the user together with the primary content may be content that is matched to the primary content and therefore detected to be relevant to the user. Detection of primary content and matching to supplemental content may be carried out based on a comparison of entities related to the primary and supplemental content. In some embodiments, an analysis of the primary content for entities may include ordering entities according to significance in the primary content and selecting top entities for comparison. Also, in some embodiments, multiple pieces of supplemental content may be displayed to a user categorized based on entity.

    Abstract: A blockchain-based room inventory management system includes a property management system (PMS) module and an intermediate server system. The PMS module may be under a hotel's direct control. The intermediate server system communicates with at least one online travel agency (OTA) module and/or at least one booking engine using Ethereum-based smart contracts for confirming and processing a room reservation event. If the room reservation event is confirmed to be a successful transaction, the intermediate server system also updates the successful transaction into the PMS module and a blockchain formed by multiple node servers. The blockchain contains multiple blocks arranged in a chronological order for distinguishing successful transactions of different moments. In this way, each successful transaction is prevented from wrongly preceded by a later successful transaction. And the room inventory management system neutralizes an overbooking issue accordingly.

    Abstract: The invention relates to a method and an apparatus for generating substantially monodisperse droplets. The invention involves flowing a continuous phase fluid in a microfluidic passageway which extends along a longitudinal length direction and has a substantially constant cross section along the length direction. A dispersed phase fluid is introduced into the microfluidic passageway along a traverse direction through inlet orifices to generate droplets of the dispersed phase fluid in the continuous phase fluid. The inlet orifices have a substantially uniform diameter, and any adjacent two of the inlet orifices are arranged to be offset from each other in the length direction. The dispersed phase fluid is broken up by the shear stress generated by the continuous phase fluid to produce monodisperse droplets. By the offsetting arrangement of the inlet orifices, droplets formed by adjacent inlet orifices will not interfere with each other, thereby ensuring the uniformity of the droplets.

    Abstract: An auxiliary device can be used to display a fiducial that contains information useful in determining the physical size of the fiducial as displayed on the auxiliary device. A primary device can capture image data including a representation of the fiducial. The scale and orientation of the fiducial can be determined, such that a graphical overlay can be generated of an item of interest that corresponds to that scale and orientation. The overlay can then be displayed along with the captured image data, in order to provide an augmented reality experience wherein the image displayed on the primary device represents a scale-appropriate view of the item in a location of interest corresponding to the location of the auxiliary device. As the primary device is moved and the viewpoint of the camera changes, changes in relative scale and orientation to the fiducial are determined and the overlay is updated accordingly.
