  • Publication number: 20110192404
Abstract: This invention provides an oral apparatus and method capable of alleviating or curing snore and obstructive sleep apnea by applying a negative pressure through a mini oral interface to the oral cavity. The mini oral interface creates a secure connection to mouth and helps a patient's upper and lower lips closed during sleeping. The negative pressure pulls the tongue toward upper palate and also pulls the soft palate forward as well. By moving the tongue and the soft tissue in a forward direction, the patency of the upper airway near the pharynx is maintained to prevent sleep-disordered breathing. The negative pressure will pull the lips inward to close the mouth preventing air from entering the oral cavity from atmosphere. The negative pressure will also pull the soft palate into contact with the rear surface of the tongue to create a seal that prevents the air from entering the oral cavity through the nasal airway.

  • Publication number: 20110073119
Abstract: This invention provides an oral apparatus and method capable of alleviating or curing snore and obstructive sleep apnea by applying a negative pressure through a mini oral interface to the oral cavity. The mini oral interface creates a secure connection between the interface and mouth or teeth and prevents the interface from falling off. The oral interface also provides fixation between upper and lower lips (or tooth) and prevents opening of patient's mouth during sleeping. The negative pressure pulls the tongue toward upper palate and also pulls the soft palate forward as well. By moving the tongue and the soft palate in a forward direction, the patentcy of the upper airway near the pharynx is maintained to prevent sleep-disordered breathing. The negative pressure will pull the lips inward to close the mouth ad prevent air from entering the oral cavity from atmosphere.

  • Patent number: 7837944
Abstract: A flow unit for microfluidic particles separation and concentration is disclosed. The unit comprises a nozzle segment, a turn segment, and a diffuser segment. The nozzle segment is defined by a first member and a second member, and has an opening through which fluid and microfluidic particles enter. The nozzle segment has a narrowing portion at which the first and second members narrow from the opening to increase momentum of the fluid therethrough. The turn segment is defined by the first member flaring outwardly downstream from the narrowing portion to change flow direction of the fluid consistent with the first member. The diffuser segment is defined by the second member extending past the turn segment to facilitate separation of the microfluidic particles from the fluid due to the inability to follow the fluid flow.

  • Publication number: 20090148319
Abstract: This invention provides a compressor with brushless single-phase linear motor, which includes a movable cylinder associated with a permanent magnet array, at least a stationary electromagnetic winding set and a pair of stationary pistons. A partition plate is disposed in the movable cylinder to form a first sub-cylinder and a second sub-cylinder. The front ends of the pair of the stationary pistons are respectively placed in either of two openings of the movable cylinder at its two ends. An alternate current applied to the stationary electromagnetic winding set to generate alternately attracting/repelling forces to the permanent magnet array. The movable cylinder is hence alternately pushed forward and backward. The volumes of the first and second sub-cylinders are changed to compress air in the first sub-cylinder or the second sub-cylinder.

These parameters are used as judgment standards of a strong shaking. A strong shaking judgment method according to the invention is described as follows: first, calculate and analyze every kind of earthquake characteristic parameter, such as a maximum acceleration value, number of times for passing over acceleration threshold, maximum velocity, maximum displacement, shaking energy index and shaking frequency, from acceleration change in a certain preset time frame. Next, use these six parameters to process a strong shaking judgment. A strong shaking judgment device can use a battery module, acceleration sensor module, micro controller module, alarm output module and state display module. The device in coordination with the method mentioned above can process a strong shaking judgment.
