Publication number: 20250150825Abstract: An example computing device accesses a resource allocation network service utilizing a wireless network connection in accordance with embedded SIM (eSIM) functionality to identify and reserve computing resources. The computing device transmits a request to the resource allocation server that includes computing device profile information stored in the eSIM. The resource allocation network service processes the requests and receives additional profile information from the identified physical computing resource. The resource allocation network service then establishes a reservation and generates allocation information that includes credential information and is sent to the requesting computing device and the physical computing resource. When the computing device attempts to access the computing resource (e.g., the workstation), the physical computing resource authenticates the computing device based allocation information transmitted by the computing device.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 7, 2023Publication date: May 8, 2025Applicant: Hewlett-Packard Development Company, L.P.Inventors: Ying Chih Kuo, Chung-Chun Chen, Chih-Ming Huang

Publication number: 20250150935Abstract: A host device acting as a wireless hotspot can suffer poor network performance when many client devices are connected simultaneously, particularly devices with a poor connection speed. To improve network performance, the host device can identify a client device with the worst network connectivity based on wireless signal strength, a peer-to-peer (P2P) packet drop rate, and a P2P ping response time, and instruct the client device to scan the other client devices to identify the best candidate to serve as a new host device for the client device. The hotspot functionality can then be offloaded to the new host device with respect to the client device, thereby reducing the number of client devices connected directly to the main host device and improving the network performance of the client device.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 6, 2023Publication date: May 8, 2025Applicant: Hewlett-Packard Development Company, L.P.Inventors: Chao-Yo Cheng, Chung-Chun Chen, Yi-Jin Li, Zong-Hua Wu

Publication number: 20240313991Abstract: A video conferencing system including a plurality of ultra-wideband (UWB)-enabled electronic devices and a camera can facilitate a better conference call experience for participants. Each electronic device can determine its relative location by performing a UWB exchange with the camera. A conference call application uses the relative locations of each electronic device to generate an ordered listing of conference participants. The electronic devices adjust a graphical user interface (GUI) of conference participants based on the ordered listing. When one of the electronic devices detects an audio input from a corresponding conference participant, the electronic device can selectively provide audio information to the conference call application and request that the camera zoom to the electronic device. The camera can accordingly zoom a video input of the conference call application to emphasize the corresponding participant in the conference call.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 13, 2023Publication date: September 19, 2024Applicant: Hewlett-Packard Development Company, L.P.Inventors: Hsiao-Ling Hsieh, Chung-Chun Chen, Wei-Ming Lo
