  • Publication number: 20050010942
Abstract: An optical disc drive including a clamping mechanism, which faces a turntable, supports a surface of a disc, and is rotated. The clamping mechanism includes a clamper, which has access to the disc by a magnetic force when a spindle motor has access to the disc so that the disc is not deviated from a mounting portion when clamping is not completely performed, and a return member, which allows the damper to be spaced apart from the disc as the spindle motor is spaced apart from the disc.

  • Patent number: 6804184
Abstract: An optical disc drive having a retractable and ejectable disc carrying tray. A compound pivot mechanism engages a turntable with a disc carried on the tray. The turntable is supported by a base chassis which pivots with respect to a main frame. A sub-chassis is pivotably connected with the mainframe and elastically coupled with the base chassis. A cam member on the main frame engages the sub-chassis to pivot the sub-chassis coincident with the tray being retracted into the main frame or ejected from the main frame. The sub-chassis in turn pivots the base chassis to engage or disengage the disc with the turntable. The tray accommodates discs having different diameters and comprises mechanisms for securing the disc while the disc is retracted into and ejected from the main frame.

  • Publication number: 20040057352
Abstract: An apparatus for automatically adjusting tilting of an optical disc drive, having placing parts, a plurality of height measurers, adjusters, a mirror disc, two mirror plates, an autocollimator, a photo detector, and a controller. The optical disc drive is placed on the placing parts. The plurality of height measurers measure heights of two portions of each of the pair of rails. The adjusters adjust the adjusting parts. The mirror disc is mounted on the turntable and spins. The two mirror plates are installed on the pair of rails. The autocollimator radiates parallel light beams onto the mirror disc and the two mirror plates. The photo detector detects focused points of the light beams reflected from the mirror disc and the two mirror plates and passing through the autocollimator. The controller calculates an amount of tilting from a distance between the focused points.

  • Publication number: 20030214895
Abstract: A tray loading apparatus of an optical disc drive is provided. The tray loading apparatus includes a main frame, first rails that are installed in the main frame to guide a first tray on which a cartridge accommodating a disc is mounted so that the first tray slides into or out of the main frame, and second rails that are attachable to and detachable from the main frame and guide a second tray on which the disc is placed so that the second tray can slide into or out of the main frame. The tray loading apparatus further includes lockers that lock the second tray when the second tray is completely loaded into the main frame and disc guides that guide the outer circumference of the disc placed on the second tray. Accordingly, second rails can be separated from or coupled to a main frame to selectively load and unload a first tray on which a cartridge is mounted or a second tray on which a disc is placed.

  • Patent number: 5917674
Abstract: A cassette loading apparatus in a tape recorder includes a deck on opposite side surfaces of which a loading slit and a protrusion are formed. A cassette holder on which a tape cassette is received is provided and has a pair of side surfaces, each of the side surfaces having a guide protrusion which is slidably combined with a corresponding one of the loading slits. A loading shaft arm is provided and includes side arms each rotatably connected to a corresponding one of the opposite side surfaces of the deck and having a first slot with which the guide protrusion of the cassette holder is combined, and a second slot with which the protrusion of the deck is combined, and a beam for connecting the side arms. A driving mechanism is provided for rotating the side arms. Therefore, the total number of components is reduced, and productivity is enhanced because of the simple assembly. A method of assembling the cassette loading apparatus is also provided.

  • Patent number: 5880909
Abstract: In an audio/control (A/C) head connecting device of a tape recorder, a main circuit board installed under a main deck applies an electrical signal to an A/C head on the main deck. A sub-circuit board is formed at the A/C head to electrically connect the A/C head to which the electrical signal is applied. A support is installed on the main circuit board. Thus, the sub-circuit board having a connecting port passes through an opening in the main deck and is electrically connected to an elastic connecting member installed at the support.
