  • Publication number: 20150237690
Abstract: A capacitance amplifying circuit applied to a controller of a power convertor includes a comparison unit and a capacitance amplifying module. The comparison unit receives a feedback voltage corresponding to a load coupled to the power convertor, a dimming signal, and a reference voltage, and outputs a compensation current. The capacitance amplifying module generates an equivalent capacitor. A capacitance of the equivalent capacitor is K times to a capacitance of a reference capacitor of the capacitance amplifying module, and K is a real number greater than 1. The compensation current and the equivalent capacitor are used for determining a compensation voltage, and when the dimming signal is disabled, a closed loop within the capacitance amplifying module is changed to an open loop to keep the compensation voltage at a fixed value.

  • Patent number: 9101033
Abstract: Short protection control circuits and related control methods are disclosed. A disclosed short protection control circuit is adapted for controlling a short protection mechanism providing short protection to several LED chains. The disclosed short protection control circuit has a detection circuit, a first logic circuit and a timer. Coupled to the LED chains, the detection circuit asserts an indication signal when one of the node voltages of the LED chains is lower than an under-current reference. When the indication signal is enabled, the first logic circuit starts blocking the short protection mechanism. The timer times to provide a result when the short protection mechanism is blocked. When the result indicates that the short protection mechanism has been blocked for at least a predetermined time period, the first logic circuit resumes the short protection mechanism.

Abstract: A timing controller provides adaptive timings to control a synchronous rectifier with a body diode. The timing controller has a ramp generator providing a ramp signal at a first capacitor. The ramp signal corresponds to a discharge time when the body diode is forward biased. A second capacitor records an estimated duration signal. An update circuit is connected between the first and second capacitors, for shorting the first and second capacitor to update the estimated duration signal by charge sharing. A comparator with two inputs coupled to the ramp signal and the estimated duration signal respectively compares the ramp signal and the estimated duration signal to control the synchronous rectifier.
