Patent number: 7866767Abstract: A traction band substantially made from elastomeric material is disclosed. The traction band comprises a main band body divided into a plurality of sections connected together along laterally extending pitch lines. The band body has an interior wheel-engaging surface, adapted to cooperate with the various wheels of a track system, and an exterior ground-engaging surface adapted to engage the ground. The wheel-engaging surface comprises one or more rows of longitudinally spaced-apart drive lugs and/or guide lugs typically disposed on each of the band sections. The ground-engaging surface comprises traction lugs extending longitudinally across more than one band section, these traction lugs comprising laterally extending bending regions where the traction lugs are thinner. These bending regions are substantially aligned with regions on the interior surface which are devoid of drive lugs and guide lugs.Type: GrantFiled: December 11, 2008Date of Patent: January 11, 2011Assignee: Soucy International Inc.Inventors: Marc-André Lemaire, Claude Faucher, Yves St-Pierre

Patent number: 7425044Abstract: This invention relates to endless tracks and systems used to propel track laying vehicles [i.e., vehicles which use endless tracks rather than tires to contact the terrain over which they are driven, e.g., tractors, tanks, bulldozers, etc.] and, more particularly, to an improved rubber track design and system allowing the endless track to be driven more efficiently at highway speeds. The track is made from a polymer adapted to travel over a drive sprocket, a plurality of guide wheels and a tensioning wheel, the track having a first exterior ground engaging surface and a second interior drive sprocket engaging surface, the track comprising: a carcass portion in which reinforcements are embedded into the polymer; a plurality of tread lugs disposed on the first engaging surface; a plurality of drive lugs disposed on the second engaging surface and a plurality of guide horns disposed on the second engaging surface.Type: GrantFiled: November 22, 2005Date of Patent: September 16, 2008Assignee: Soucy International Inc.Inventors: Gilles Soucy, Claude Faucher, André Deland, Marc Delisle

Publication number: 20040004395Abstract: The endless track is made of a reinforced rubber material with longitudinally spaced and transversely disposed ridges or lugs. It is particularly well-adapted for recreational snowmobiles having a single track. The, ground-engaging side of the track features a tread pattern that is repeated uniformly or not over the entire length of the track. The tread pattern comprises a plurality of projecting traction lugs each an upper edge having which together delimit the general outline of a cross-sectional transversal traction lug profile when viewed along a longitudinal direction. The track is characterized in that the traction lug profile comprises a substantially flat central or interior section and two opposite exterior or lateral sections located on the sides of the interior section and that taper toward the exterior. Such track facilitates the steering capabilities of a snowmobile, particularly when the snowmobile is traveling on hard and abrasive surfaces. It also improves the durability of the track.Type: ApplicationFiled: April 15, 2003Publication date: January 8, 2004Inventors: Gilles Soucy, Yves St-Pierre, Andre Deland, Claude Faucher
