  • Publication number: 20030132790
Abstract: A delay locked loop that uses a differential push/pull buffer is provided. The differential push/pull buffer of the DLL is used to create a buffered output that closely follows the characteristics of the buffer's input over a range of temperature, power supply noise operating conditions, and process (manufacturing) variations. Further, an integrated circuit that contains a delay locked loop that uses a differential push/pull buffer is provided. Further, a delay locked loop with means for buffering a delayed signal is provided. Further, a method for buffering a delayed clock signal using a differential push/pull buffer is provided.

  • Patent number: 6593784
Abstract: A technique for adjusting a bias-generator in a phase locked loop after fabrication of the phase locked loop is provided. The technique involves use of an adjustment circuit operatively connected to the bias-generator, where the adjustment circuit is controllable to facilitate a modification of a voltage output by the bias-generator. Such control of the voltage output by the bias-generator allows a designer to achieve a desired phase locked loop performance characteristic after the phase locked loop has been fabricated.

  • Patent number: 6387237
Abstract: An electrolytic cell for aluminum production, including a cell wall, a bus bar, a carbonaceous cathode block, and a collector bar connecting the bus bar with the cathode block. The collector bar comprises a ferrous metal body including a solid spacer and a sheath defining a cavity containing a copper insert. The spacer has an external end portion connected with the bus bar and an internal end portion that is preferably spaced inwardly of the cell wall. The spacer separates the copper insert from the bus bar, thereby reducing heat loss from the cell.

  • Patent number: 6370113
Abstract: A method and apparatus for monitoring voice and data telephone calls by a law enforcement agency, wherein separate monitoring connections for each party to the call are established. Upon determining that a particular call is to be monitored, the group switch attempts to establish a plurality of separate connections between each multiple point (MUP) on the group switch that receives voice or data signals from one of the parties to the call and one or more monitoring centers. If the connection associated with the primary party to be monitored fails, the group switch reroutes signals received from the primary party to a successful connection of the plurality of attempted connections.

  • Patent number: 6294067
Abstract: A cathode assembly for use in a Hall-Heroult electrolytic cell, the assembly including a cathode block which receives two primary cathode collector bars and one secondary cathode collector bar disposed therebetween. The primary collector bars each have an electrical interface with the cathode block which is sized to be equal to or greater than an electrical interface between the secondary collector bar and the cathode block. The primary collector bars are electrically connected to the cathode block only along an interior portion of the cathode block and the secondary collector bar is fully connected to the cathode block. This arrangement improves current distribution through the cathode assembly by minimizing the amount of current passing through the ends of the cathode block.

  • Patent number: 6293208
Abstract: In a method of supplying air to a pulverized solid fuel burner passing through the burner cowl of a furnace, the fuel is dried and then conveyed by means of a given large quantity of hot air, which may or may not be depleted in oxygen in a separator in which the fuel is extracted from it. The fuel is then conveyed to the burner by means of a first portion only of the air from which the fuel has been removed. This conveyor air portion is used as primary combustion-supporting air for burning the fuel in the burner, into which the first portion of air, mixed with the fuel it conveys, is fed via an annular duct. The other portion of the hot air purified in the separator is used at least as additional primary combustion-supporting and flame adjustment air and is fed into the burner peripherally and centrally relative to the first portion of air charged with fuel.

  • Patent number: 5634785
Abstract: A gas burner for discharging a mixture of a gaseous fuel and combustion air into a combustion chamber wherein the mixture is burned and flue gases are formed comprises a burner body having a peripheral wall defining a combustion air supply passage having a central axis and having an orifice communicating with the combustion chamber. Primary gaseous fuel is injected in a central part of the combustion air supply passage, and secondary gaseous fuel is injected through pipes in the combustion air supply passage peripherally distributed about the primary gaseous fuel injection. Conduits for recycling the flue gases are disposed in the combustion air supply passage and associated with the secondary gaseous fuel injection. The secondary gaseous fuel is injected into the conduits, the conduits have an axis extending parallel to the central axis and an orifice along their axis at one end thereof, the orifice communicating with the combustion chamber.

  • Patent number: 5562437
Abstract: The present invention relates to a fluid fuel burner with very low emission f nitrogen oxides, comprising, in known manner, means for injecting the fuel into a hearth at least one primary air supply conduit around said injection means, and at least one secondary air supply conduit located radially on the periphery outside the primary air supply conduit. According to the invention, said injection means comprise multiple orifices creating a plurality of independent divergent flames in the hearth, and the burner comprises as many secondary air supply injectors as there are said flames, each of said injectors being placed axially and angularly with respect to one of these flames, in a position such that it furnishes thereto an additional air fluid after a first phase of combustion.

  • Patent number: 5155648
Abstract: A device for protecting a direct current electrical power supply from disturbances caused by connecting to it or disconnecting from it an electronic system comprises at least one variable impedance component. The impedance of this component is controlled so that it has a very high first value when said electronic system is disconnected, a very low second value when said system is connected, a value varying slowly from said first value to said second value on changing from the disconnected state to the connected state and a value varying quickly from said second value to said first value on changing from the connected state to the disconnected state. The output current from said variable impedance component constitutes the supply current of said electronic system.

  • Patent number: 4952795
Abstract: A current limiter circuit receiving an input current having a non-zero DC component whose value lies in a wide range of current values, and delivering a limited output current whose value lies in a narrower range of current values. The limiter comprises a series connection of a first asymmetrical conductivity element followed by a second asymmetrical conductivity element which is followed in turn by a resistive element, the series connection extending between two poles of a voltage source so that a bias current flows through the asymmetrical conductivity elements and makes them conductive. The input current is applied to the common point between the two asymmetrical conductivity elements and the current-limited output is taken from the common point between the second asymmetrical conductivity element and the resistive element.
