  • Patent number: 8621575
Abstract: Methods of securely performing online transactions are described which involve two independently controlled web servers. In order to complete a transaction, a user interacts concurrently with each of the two web servers and authentication may occur between the user and each web server and between web servers. Each of the two web servers provide data which is used to complete the transaction and the data provided by the first web server is communicated directly to the second web server for use in the transaction. In an embodiment, the first web server provides a web page which enables a user to specify a variable which is used in the transaction. This is communicated to the second web server which processes the transaction along with an identifier for the message. The identifier may be used in validating the variable before it is used in processing the transaction. Following completion of a transaction this may be reported in real time to the first web server.

  • Publication number: 20130315168
Abstract: A base station communicates a positioning reference signal (PRS) to wireless communication devices over a downlink in a wireless communication system by encoding a PRS into a first set of transmission resources, encoding other information into a second set of transmission resources, multiplexing the two sets of resources into a subframe such that the first set of resources is multiplexed into at least a portion of a first set of orthogonal frequency division multiplexed (OFDM) symbols based on an identifier associated with the base station and the second set of resources is multiplexed into a second set of OFDM symbols. Upon receiving the subframe, a wireless communication device determines which set of transmission resources contains the PRS based on the identifier associated with the base station that transmitted the subframe and processes the set of resources containing the PRS to estimate timing (e.g., time of arrival) information.

  • Patent number: 7742788
Abstract: In order to increase a capacity, or a number of mobile stations (MSs), or users, that may engaged in concurrent communication sessions, a communication system is provided that schedules a different MS, or user, in each beam of multiple predetermined, fixed beams associated with a coverage area, in particular a sector. By simultaneously scheduling a user in each beam of the multiple beams, a performance and throughput of communication system is significantly increased over the prior art. In one embodiment of the present invention, a portion of a shared communication channel that is allocated to each MS is concurrently transmitted to each MS via a beam associated with the MS. In other embodiments of the present invention, voice channels, data channels, and control channels associated with each MS scheduled in a beam may be concurrently transmitted to each MS via the beam associated with the MS.

  • Patent number: 7457590
Abstract: A method, apparatus and system are provided for use in optimizing signal-to-noise ratios at remote wireless devices. A method can receive a signal over a reverse link, determine an angular power profile of the reverse link signal, and determine an antenna weighting vector for the forward traffic signal based on the angular power profile. The determination of the weighting vector can include retrieving the vector from a weighting vector table. Some methods identify boundaries of angular spreads and utilize pre-calculate weighting vectors according to the boundaries. An apparatus can include an antenna array, a wireless receiver that receives reverse link signals, a detector that detects an angular power profile of the signals, a controller that determines a weighting vector and applies the weighting vector to the antenna array when transmitting. Some embodiments are dependent on whether the forward link incorporates a common pilot or per-user pilot signal.

  • Publication number: 20070223601
Abstract: A method and apparatus is provided for transceiving an information signal in an orthogonal frequency division multiplexed (OFDM) communication system that uses a plurality of radio frequency subcarriers modulated with the information signal and transceives the modulated plurality of radio frequency subcarriers through first and second antennas at a transmitter and first and second antennas at a receiver. The method includes the steps of providing first and second copies of the modulated plurality of radio frequency subcarriers that are transmitted from the transmitter to the receiver, phase rotating the first copy of the modulated plurality of radio frequency carriers with a subcarrier dependent phase rotation and summing the first rotated copy of the plurality of radio frequency subcarriers with the second copy of the modulated plurality of radio frequency carriers.
