The method includes: a terminal device detects a DCP (Downlink Control Information of Power saving) in a first time period; wherein a DRX On Duration timer meets at least one of: in a case that the terminal device detects the DCP and DCP indication associated with a DRX cycle indicated to start the DRX On Duration timer in the DRX cycle, the DRX On Duration timer is started in the DRX cycle after the first time period; or, in a case that the terminal device does not detect the DCP, the terminal device does not start the DRX On Duration timer in the DRX cycle after the first time period.

The first period of time is, for example, n DRX cycles, n being a positive integer greater than or equal to 1.
