Abstract: A patient support, such as a bed, a cot, a stretcher, or the like, for supporting an occupant includes sensors adapted to detect a status of the patient support, such as the width of the width-adjustable patient support component or the locked or unlocked state of the patient support component. A control system for the patient support is configured to determine if the patient support is in an unacceptable status, such as an unacceptable width configuration or an unlocked state, based on the sensed status. The control system is adapted to issue an alert or take action or prompt a caregiver to take an action if the patient support status is unacceptable.

Abstract: A method for making a cold plate includes the steps of positioning a finstock structure in a cavity of a substrate; and applying a cover to the finstock structure and substrate, wherein the applying step comprises ultrasonically additive manufacturing the cover to the substrate and the finstock structure, whereby the cover joins with the substrate and the finstock structure. The resulting cold plate assembly includes a substrate having a cavity, a finstock structure within the cavity, and a cover closing the finstock structure within the cavity, the cover being integrally joined to the substrate and to the finstock structure.

Abstract: A grill bag for cooking small food items, such as pieces of meat, seafood or vegetables, on a barbecue grill or the like is in the form or is formable into a pouch. The pouch is formed from a piece of flexible, high temperature resistant material having distributed mesh openings. The pouch of the grill bag can be loaded with small food items and the loaded grill bag easily set onto and removed from a barbecue grill and easily moved or turned over on the grill to efficiently and evenly cook the food items contained in the grill bag.

Abstract: An apparatus for converting a barbecue into a pizza cooking oven includes an open door frame and vertical side panels pivotally attached to the vertical side posts of the open door frame. The side panels can be pivotally adjusted on the open door frame to extend rearward of the open door frame at different pivot positions. When the side panels are extended rearward of the open door frame, the bottom edges of the side panels provide a support base for setting the apparatus onto the top rim of a bottom bowl of a barbecue and the top edges of the side panels support a cover of a barbecue in an elevated position above the bottom bowl of the barbecue. The elevation of the cover creates an expanded cooking chamber above the bottom bowl of the barbecue and the open door frame provides access to the expanded cooking chamber.

Abstract: A cooking utensil for flavoring a whole bird with salt includes a salt block configured to fit into the body cavity of a bird and a base pan having a salt block holder for holding the salt block in an upright position on the base pan. A whole bird can be placed over the upright salt block in the pan such that the salt block inserts into the body cavity of the bird. The cooking utensil holds a whole bird upright and at the same time adds salt flavor to the bird as it is being cooked.
