  • Publication number: 20090122705
Abstract: A method, system and computer program product for managing bursts of traffic. A counter, referred to herein as a “frequency counter,” is incremented during those time intervals an overload condition is detected and is decremented during those time intervals an overload condition is not detected. An overload condition may refer to when the number of out-of-dialog messages exceeds a threshold value corresponding to the maximum number of out-of-dialog messages that should be accepted and forwarded to an associated session server. If the count of the frequency counter exceeds some pre-configured value, then traffic that exceeds the threshold for the overload condition is stopped from being sent to the associated session server. Otherwise, traffic that exceeds the threshold for the overload condition is permitted to be sent to the associated session server. By managing bursts of traffic in such a manner, the effective utilization of session servers is improved.

  • Publication number: 20090122704
Abstract: A method, system and computer program product for limiting extreme loads and reducing fluctuations in load at session servers. An admission rate controller of a SIP router calculates the “deflator ratio” equal to the average number of in-dialog messages received over a first fixed interval of time divided by the average number of out-of-dialog messages received over a second fixed interval of time. Further, the admission rate controller calculates the “dampening ratio” equal to the maximum number of messages allowed over a period of time divided by the number of messages admitted over a previous time interval. When an overload condition has been detected, the admission rate controller calculates the maximum number of out-of-dialog messages to be sent to its associated SIP server based on the deflator and dampening ratios. In this manner, a smoother transition from the overload condition to the non-overload condition may occur.

  • Patent number: 7512957
Abstract: A web services namespace pertains to an infrastructure for enabling creation of a wide variety of applications. The infrastructure provides a foundation for building message-based applications of various scale and complexity. The infrastructure or framework provides APIs for basic messaging, secure messaging, reliable messaging and transacted messaging. In some embodiments, the associated APIs are factored into a hierarchy of namespaces in a manner that balances utility, usability, extensibility and versionability.

  • Publication number: 20090075651
Abstract: Methods and systems for determining whether a mobile radio terminal is on or out of a zone in a radio communications network. The methods and systems provide for generating a profile representative of the zone using measurements taken by the mobile radio terminal and/or the network and/or using predicted values. A comparison is then made between subsequent measurements or values and the profile to make a determination as to whether the mobile radio terminal is in or out of the zone. The methods and systems are applicable to any zone-based application including differential call charging, security applications, buddy finder services, mobile gaming and location based services in general.

  • Publication number: 20090011779
Abstract: A method and system for calculating the location of a mobile radio terminal in a radio communications network. The method provides for the collection of measurements of radio signal parameters at the mobile radio terminal which are then processed and transmitted to a network processor for calculating the location of the mobile radio terminal. The collected measurements may be filtered and subsets of the measurements may also be selected according to their suitability for particular applications.

  • Patent number: 7472683
Abstract: An idle air control valve assembly including a strain relief feature for a plurality of wire terminals that couple the control valve to a remote source. The strain relief feature prevents damage to solder joints attaching the wire leads to the valve assembly. Additional improvements in the idle air control valve assembly include a plurality of axially and radially extending protrusions on a peripheral surface of a valve body that assist in the alignment and retention of the valve body in a throttle body manifold of an internal combustion engine. The protrusions are operable in combination with a plurality of bolt flange tabs to ensure proper radial positioning of the valve body when inserted into the throttle body manifold.

  • Patent number: 7445194
Abstract: An idle air control valve for a vehicle includes a housing (21), a motor (32) disposed in the housing, a shaft (29) associated with the motor, and a bellows assembly (30) including a bellows structure (10) having a first end defining a base (14), a second, opened end (16), and a bellows (18) between the first and second ends. An annular rim member (28) is associated with the second opened end. A pintle (24) has surfaces defining an annular groove (26) therein. The annular rim member (28) is received, in press-fit engagement, in the annular groove (26). The base (14) is in press-fit engagement with a recess (22) in the housing and the pintle (24) is coupled with an end of the shaft, such that the bellows structure together with the pintle surround the shaft and provide a barrier substantially preventing contaminants from entering the motor.

  • Publication number: 20080121833
Abstract: An idle air control valve (11) for a vehicle includes a stator assembly (12) and a rotor assembly (26) operatively associated with the stator assembly and mounted for rotation with respect to the stator assembly. A shaft (36) is restricted from rotation and is associated with the rotor assembly such that rotation of the rotor assembly causes linear movement of the shaft. A pintle (38) is associated with a distal end of the shaft for linear movement therewith. A journal (28) is associated with the rotor assembly and is constructed and arranged to support and permit rotation of the rotor assembly relative to the stator assembly. Lubricant (30) is provided between a surface of the journal and a surface of the rotor assembly.
