  • Publication number: 20240179181
Abstract: A system and method for authorization policy evaluation. Authorization policies are authored in a general-purpose authorization language. An evaluation engine is used in a provider network by application developers to manage access within their applications based on fine-grained permissions. The policy language combines elements of role-based and attributed-based access control within an intuitive syntax and efficient evaluation strategy. The policy syntax separates role-based expressions of a policy from attribute-based expressions of the policy.

  • Publication number: 20210309268
Abstract: System and methods are provided for warning a worker of a rail vehicle, or an operator of the rail vehicle of the worker. The system includes a worker device, a vehicle device, and a central server. The devices and server operate on one or a combination of actual or simulated satellite navigational signals, and beacon signals to determine the position of the devices, to generate a warning. The position determination may prioritize beacon signals over satellite navigation signals. The position determination may involve correcting a calculated position based on a measured power level of the beacon signal received from the beacon transmitter, an elapsed time since a previous beacon signal was last received by the device from the beacon transmitter, an elapsed time since a previous satellite navigation signal was received by the device, or an accuracy of the position of the device based on the satellite navigation signal.

  • Patent number: 10922414
Abstract: Devices, systems, methods, and computer program products for managing network access control with a build system are disclosed. The build system controls network filtering at retail stores based on identifiers of Point of Sale devices connected to the store's LAN (Local Area Network). This filtering places only authorized devices on a virtual LAN within the LAN that is reserved for POS terminals. The network access control is managed by a process built into the build system.

  • Publication number: 20060100956
Abstract: The present invention provides for a method of updating an internet search engine database with the results of a user's selection of specific web page listings from the general web page listing provided to the user as a result of his initial keyword search entry. By updating the database with the selections of many different users, the database can be updated to prioritize those web listings that have been selected the most with respect to a given keyword, and thereby presenting first the most popular web page listings in a subsequent search using the same keyword search entry.

  • Publication number: 20020161461
Abstract: A computer aided game apparatus is disclosed for tracking location and distance on a golf course, recommending club selection, recording golfer performance statistics, receiving notification via a pager, and playing infomercials during the course of a golf game. The apparatus has a processor connected to a memory which is suitably supports a geographic information system (GIS), a player performance database, and an infomercial database. The apparatus has a global positioning receiver which operates in conjunction with the GIS for indicating the current position of the golfer. The GPS receiver is connected to the processor which in turn drives a convenient, intuitive touch screen display. The apparatus has a pager which allows for direct contact with the golfer. To support data networking, the microprocessor is also connected to one or more interface ports, including an infra-red port, a parallel port, a serial port, and a PCMCIA port.

  • Patent number: 5412672
Abstract: Optical wave-guides, e.g. fibres, for use as photonic amplifiers have a path region partly or, preferably, wholly composed as a silica/germania glass with 0.1 to 5000 ppm mole of Er.sup.3+ as a lasing additive and alumina to adjust the bandwidth, the Ge:Al mole ratio being more than 2.8, e.g. 1:0.001 to 0.25. It is surprising that low amounts of alumina have a useful and significant effect on the lasing bandwidth whereby frequency division multiplex is facilitated.
