Publication number: 20020131985Abstract: A system is described for providing a customized, personal care product to a consumer at a location, typically the point of sale, that is remote from a second location in which a personal care product base composition is prepared. A selection of performance agents of different classes with a common vehicle is made available to the consumer for custom formulation of a personal care product with the desired attributes. The system typically includes a product base, a fragrance part, and one or more performance agent parts that may contain benefit agents, botanical extracts, active ingredients for skin and hair, and the like. A blank vehicle is substituted if insufficient performance agents are selected.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 15, 2001Publication date: September 19, 2002Applicant: Unilever Home & Personal Care USA, Division of Conopco, Inc.Inventors: May Shana'a, Michael Charles Cheney, Robert Avena, Kevin Keating, Craig Stephen Slavtcheff, Brian John Dobkowski, Rosa Paredes, Marion Louise Margosiak, Christy Bridges, Marcina Siciliano

Patent number: 6451331Abstract: A wiping article is provided which includes an effervescent cleanser composition held within a sachet, at least one wall of the sachet including at least one pleat. The presence of pleats allows expansion room within the sachet to accommodate effervescent action. It also results in an ergonomically pleasant pillow configuration. Advantageously, the sachet is formed of two sheets with the second sheet being relatively more rigid than the first sheet and non-pleated which permits easier graspability by a user's hand. Additionally, at least one of the sheets should be water permeable. In a preferred embodiment, the effervescent composition is an intimate mixture of an acid material such as citric acid and an alkaline material such as sodium bicarbonate. Water contact causes the combination to effervesce. Skin benefit agents may be included within the composition.Type: GrantFiled: August 29, 2000Date of Patent: September 17, 2002Assignee: Unilever Home & Personal Care USA, division of Conopco, Inc.Inventors: Craig Stephen Slavtcheff, Joanna Hong Zhang, Alexander Paul Znaiden

Publication number: 20020071859Abstract: A cosmetic towelette is provided which includes a water-insoluble substrate and a fluid cosmetic composition impregnated into the substrate. The composition has a viscosity ranging from about 1 cps to 10,000 cps. The composition includes a water phase, a sunscreen phase and a surfactant system. The sunscreen phase is immiscible with the water phase and contains at least 25% organic sunscreen agent. Towelettes impregnated with the composition impart an effective SPF to the skin when applied thereto.Type: ApplicationFiled: April 24, 2001Publication date: June 13, 2002Applicant: Unilever Home & Personal Care USA, Division of Conopco, Inc.Inventors: Robert Edward Gott, Craig Stephen Slavtcheff

Patent number: 6391835Abstract: A disposable substantially dry cleansing article is disclosed having a lathering surfactant and a C5-C12 alkyl diol impregnated into a flexible substrate such as a non-woven cloth. The alkyl diol primarily is a process aid which may concurrently improve aesthetics and increase latherability. Hexylene glycol is the preferred diol. Best performance is achieved with an alkyl diol to total lathering surfactant weight ratio from about 1:1 to about 1:8.Type: GrantFiled: October 18, 2000Date of Patent: May 21, 2002Assignee: Unilever Home & Personal Care USA division of Conopco Inc.Inventors: Robert Edward Gott, Craig Stephen Slavtcheff

Publication number: 20020039558Abstract: A wiping article is provided which includes an effervescent cleanser composition held within a pouch formed from a first and second substrate sheet. At least one of the substrate sheets must be water permeable. The effervescent composition is an intimate mixture of an acid material such as citric acid and an alkaline material such as sodium bicarbonate. Water contact causes the combination to effervesce. A dry surfactant such as sodium cocoyl isethionate in contact with the water and effervescing carbon dioxide results in a highly pleasant sudsing system. Skin benefit agents may be included within the composition. The effervescent action may improve deposition of the skin benefit agents onto the skin.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 10, 2001Publication date: April 4, 2002Applicant: Chesebrough-Pond's Co.Inventors: Linda Farrell, Craig Stephen Slavtcheff, Alexander Paul Znaiden, Paul Vinski

Publication number: 20020037255Abstract: A packaged effervescent product is provided which includes a sachet surrounded by an outer package film sealing the sachet against water vapor transmission. The sachet is a cosmetic article which includes an effervescent cleansing composition of an acid material such as citric add and an alkaline material such as sodium bicarbonate. The composition is held within the sealed sachet or pouch. At least one wall of the pouch is water permeable. The outer package film is formed of a material which must have a breathability for carbon dioxide. Any carbon dioxide generated during storage is thereby allowed to slowly diffuse into the atmosphere while still minimizing the amount of water which may enter the package.Type: ApplicationFiled: May 14, 2001Publication date: March 28, 2002Applicant: Unilever Home & Personal Care USA, Division of Conopco, Inc.Inventors: Natalie Charambura, Paul Roland Bergquist, Craig Stephen Slavtcheff

Patent number: 6306412Abstract: An adhesive cosmetic strip is provided which includes a flexible water-insoluble substrate, an adhesive composition deposited onto the substrate and an agent interactive with water present in a sufficient quantity to induce a change of temperature of the strip. When applied to the skin, the strip is warmed by a reaction between water and an exothermic or endothermic agent held within the strip. Moisture within the skin or externally applied water penetrates the strip and will react with the agent to cause an increase or decrease in temperature.Type: GrantFiled: May 1, 2000Date of Patent: October 23, 2001Assignee: Unilever Home & Personal Care USA, Division of Conopco, Inc.Inventors: Brian Andrew Crotty, Craig Stephen Slavtcheff, Alexander Paul Znaiden

Patent number: 6287582Abstract: A disposable towelette product is provided which includes a flexible water-insoluble substrate such as a tissue impregnated with an alpha- or beta-hydroxycarboxylic acid in a cosmetically acceptable carrier vehicle. Impregnated cosmetic composition in water will have a pH no higher than 6.8. A silicone microemulsion is present to minimize any stickiness resulting from deposition of the hydroxycarboxylic acid by the towelette onto the skin. In the presence of fatty acid group containing surfactants, the silicone microemulsion controls foul odors that the surfactants may emit through hydrolysis at low pH.Type: GrantFiled: May 1, 2000Date of Patent: September 11, 2001Assignee: Unilever Home & Personal Care USA, division of Conopco, Inc.Inventors: Robert Edward Gott, Craig Stephen Slavtcheff, Alexander Paul Znaiden

Patent number: 6270783Abstract: An adhesive cosmetic strip is provided which includes a flexible water-insoluble substrate, an adhesive composition deposited onto the substrate, a liquid crystal thermochromic substance, and an agent interactive with water to ensure a temperature rise of at least 2° C. in the strip. The thermochromic substance may be impregnated into the substrate or dispersed within the adhesive composition. When applied to the skin, the strip is warmed by a reaction between water and an exothermic or endothermic agent held within the strip. Moisture within the skin or externally applied water penetrates the strip and will react with the agent to cause an increase in temperature. Subsequently this increase in temperature will induce a color change in the thermochromic substance.Type: GrantFiled: April 26, 2000Date of Patent: August 7, 2001Assignee: Unilever Home & Personal Care USA, division of Conopco, Inc.Inventors: Craig Stephen Slavtcheff, Alexander Paul Znaiden, Michael Indursky, Brian Andrew Crotty
