  • Publication number: 20190004260
Abstract: A breakout box, breakout box system, and method for management of optical fibers. The breakout box system provides a pass-through system for connecting optical fibers to network rack modules. The external routing of incoming and outgoing cables around the rack is kept neat and orderly, with one large cable serving a plurality of shelves. The breakout of the cable and distribution of the fibers to the individual modules occurs inside the breakout boxes and bridges, which provide protection for the fibers while still allowing easy access for fiber handling by means of the removable lids.

  • Publication number: 20180375389
Abstract: An inductive power transfer system comprises a primary unit operable to generate an electromagnetic field and at least one secondary device, separable from the primary unit, and adapted to couple with the field when the secondary device is in proximity to the primary unit so that power can be received inductively by the secondary device from the primary unit without direct electrical conductive contacts therebetween. The system detects if there is a substantial difference between, on the one hand, a power drawn from the primary unit and, on the other hand, a power required by the secondary device or, if there is more than one secondary device, a combined power required by the secondary devices. Following such detection, the system restricts or stops the inductive power supply from the primary unit. Such a system can detect the presence of unwanted parasitic loads in the vicinity of the primary unit reliably.

  • Publication number: 20180367298
Abstract: The invention provides a computer-implemented solution for controlling access to a computer-related resource such as, for example, a digital wallet. In one or more embodiments, the wallet may be implemented using a blockchain such as the Bitcoin blockchain but the invention is not limited in this regard. Use of the invention during the initial set-up of the wallet can enable subsequent operations such as wallet transactions to be handled in a secure manner over an insecure channel such as the interne. A method according to an embodiment of the invention can comprise the steps of splitting a verification element (such as a private key in an asymmetric cryptography pair) into a plurality of shares; determining a common secret at two or more nodes in a network; and using the common secret to transmit at least one share of the verification element between the two or more nodes. The shares can be split such that no share on its own is sufficient to arrive at the verification element.

  • Patent number: 10158255
Abstract: An inductive power transfer system comprises a primary unit, having a primary coil and an electrical drive unit which applies electrical drive signals to the primary coil so as to generate an electromagnetic field. The system also comprises at least one secondary device, separable from the primary unit and having a secondary coil which couples with the field when the secondary device is in proximity to the primary unit. A control unit causes a circuit including said primary coil to operate, during a measurement period, in an undriven resonating condition. In this condition the application of the drive signals to the primary coil by the electrical drive unit is suspended so that energy stored in the circuit decays over the course of the period. A decay measurement unit takes one or more measures of such energy decay during the measurement period.

  • Publication number: 20180341674
Abstract: An in-memory database system stores the entirety of a database that is being operated on by a database system within main memory. The database includes a table that comprises a plurality of rows including a particular row. The database table comprises a first version of the particular row having a first valid time, and a second version having a second valid time. Index(es) are associated with the database table. Each index references the plurality of rows, including referencing the first and second versions of the particular row. A transaction acting on the first version of the particular row is executed. The first version of the particular row is visible to the transaction based on the first valid time and the second version of the particular row being not visible to the transaction based on the second valid time.

  • Publication number: 20180307721
Abstract: A data system in which a parent transaction that has multiple nested transactions has isolation between the nested transactions. Each of at least some of the plurality of operations are included within a nested transaction within the parent transaction. For each of at least some of the nested transactions, a begin transaction identifier is assigned to the nested transaction; and on or around completion of the nested transaction, a completion transaction identifier is assigned as a statement identifier at least one object version operated upon by the nested transaction. Visibility of a particular version of an object to an active nested transaction may be verified by comparing the begin transaction identifier of the active nested transaction to the statement identifier of the particular version of the object. The comparison is done such that visibility achieves the proper isolation between nested transactions.

  • Publication number: 20180303253
Abstract: A hangable display package that contains a portion of a hand tool in a manner that reveals the hand tool while still contained in the package hanging on a display hook. An outer skin having a front panel, a back panel, and a side panel covers a filler material having a thickness equivalent to the thickness of the tool contained in the display. The front panel and filler are cut to create a cavity that conforms to the size and shape of a part of the hand tool. The front panel has a clear plastic window over the cavity, allowing display of the tool. The tool is held in the display package by the forces exerted on the tool by the filler material and the front and back panels when inserted into the cavity of the display package.

The database includes a table that comprises a plurality of rows including a particular row. The database table comprises a first version of the particular row having a first valid time, and a second version having a second valid time. Index(es) are associated with the database table. • Patent number: 10035258
Abstract: A method of retrieving a vial from a carrier includes the steps of: contacting a vial contained within a carrier with a gripper assembly to shift the position of the container to one end of the carrier and to adjust the position of the carrier on a platform from a diverted position to a retrieval position; lifting the vial from the carrier with the gripper assembly; and returning the vial to the carrier with the gripper assembly. Such a method can improve the accuracy and precision of moving the vial to and from the carrier for dispensing.
