Patent number: 12197703Abstract: Users in a facility may move about and their authentication status may change accordingly. For example, upon entering a facility, a user may present identification data. At that point, the user is considered an authenticated user with persistent profile data. However, the identification of a user may not be presented at entry or may be unreliable, which causes the user to be considered an unauthenticated user with temporary profile data. In other scenarios, the identification of authenticated users may become unreliable based on their location or their proximity to other users. In cases where users are crowded at a location, the profile data for such users may be aggregated and may be based on common settings of the set of possible users in the group. A user interface may be presented to a user based on their designated profile data.Type: GrantFiled: July 29, 2022Date of Patent: January 14, 2025Assignee: AMAZON TECHNOLOGIES, INCInventors: Alexander Michael McNamara, Sridhar Boyapati, Korwin Jon Smith, Aaron Craig Thompson, Ammar Chinoy, David Echevarria Ignacio

Publication number: 20240035760Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for evaluating performance of a heat exchanger, such as a condenser, using rules-based logic. A plurality of sensors can measure various operating properties of the heat exchanger and transmit corresponding measurement information to a controller. The controller can (i) evaluate the measurement information for a plurality of rules in which each rule considers an operating parameter of the heat exchanger that is based on the measurement information to provide a set of operating values; compare the set of operating values to a rules matrix in which each of a plurality of possible diagnoses for the heat exchanger are associated with a corresponding set of predetermined values from a set of the plurality of rules; and (iii) based on the comparison, determine at least one likely diagnosis for the heat exchanger from among the plurality of possible diagnoses.Type: ApplicationFiled: July 27, 2022Publication date: February 1, 2024Applicant: CHEMTREAT, INC.Inventors: Kevin BOUDREAUX, David Craig THOMPSON, John R LEWIS, Avish PATIDAR, Nicolaas A VAN GOOR, Timothy S SWITZER

Patent number: 11887046Abstract: A system may use sensor data from a facility to generate tentative values associated with an event, such as the identification of an item removed from a shelf of the facility. A confidence value associated with each of the tentative values may be less than a confidence threshold. In response, inquiry data seeking confirmation of a tentative value from an associate is generated and sent to one or more associates in the facility. Responses from the associates are collected to determine a selection of one of the tentative values. The selected tentative value is designated as output data for the system. Thereafter, the output data and the original sensor data are designated as training data, which can then be used to train or update machine learning systems. Subsequent use of the updated machine learning systems can yield more accurate results.Type: GrantFiled: July 31, 2020Date of Patent: January 30, 2024Assignee: AMAZON TECHNOLOGIES, INC.Inventors: Christopher Andrew Stephens, Alexander Clark Prater, Alexander Michael McNamara, Sridhar Boyapati, David Echevarria Ignacio, David William Bettis, Korwin Jon Smith, Kevin Alexander Lee, Aaron Craig Thompson, Gary Paolo Raden, Sudarshan Narasimha Raghavan, Dilip Kumar, Félix Joseph Étienne Pageau

Patent number: 11616370Abstract: The present disclosure relates to a recloser control that provides autosynchronization of a microgrid to an area electric power system (EPS). For example, a recloser control may include an output connector that is communicatively coupled to a recloser at a point of common coupling (PCC) between the area EPS and the microgrid. The recloser control may include a processor that acquires a first set of measurements indicating electrical characteristics of the area EPS and acquires a second set of measurements indicating electrical characteristics of the microgrid. The recloser control may send synchronization signals to one or more distributed energy resource (DER) controllers to synchronize one or more DERs to the area EPS based on the first set of measurements and the second set of measurements.Type: GrantFiled: March 25, 2022Date of Patent: March 28, 2023Assignee: Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories, Inc.Inventors: Craig Thompson, Scott M. Patent number: 11402971Abstract: Described are systems and techniques configured to provide a user interface for an unauthenticated user of a materials handling facility. A transient profile indicative of one or more user preferences may be created and associated with the unauthenticated user. As the unauthenticated user interacts with the facility, preferences may be determined and included in the transient profile. Subsequent operation of the facility may take into account the transient profile. As the unauthenticated user moves throughout the facility, the transient profile may “follow” them, providing an ongoing user experience. Should the unauthenticated user later be authenticated, the transient preferences may be incorporated into a persistent profile.Type: GrantFiled: September 25, 2014Date of Patent: August 2, 2022Assignee: AMAZON TECHNOLOGIES, INC.Inventors: Alexander Michael McNamara, Sridhar Boyapati, Korwin Jon Smith, Aaron Craig Thompson, Ammar Chinoy, David Echevarria Ignacio

Patent number: 11262232Abstract: Functionality of sensors on a shelf or other inventory location is tested by encouraging an interaction and determining if the output from the sensors on the shelf is consistent with the interaction. An interaction at the shelf can include, for example, a user adding or removing an item from the shelf. To encourage this type of interaction with the shelf or items therein, an announcement may be generated and presented to a user. The announcement may comprise an advertisement with some type of incentive for the user to add or remove an item from the shelf. Upon verifying such an interaction, sensor data before and after the interaction can be compared to generate diagnostic data for the sensor, which can indicate whether the sensor is operational or malfunctioning.Type: GrantFiled: July 24, 2020Date of Patent: March 1, 2022Assignee: AMAZON TECHNOLOGIES, INC.Inventors: Alexander Michael McNamara, Sridhar Boyapati, Aaron Craig Thompson, David Echevarria Ignacio, David William Bettis, Korwin Jon Smith
