Abstract: An inflatable noisemaker comprising a tubular envelope having first and second ends and constructed to enclose a gas under pressure. A sealable opening is disposed proximate the first end for inflating the envelope. An active light emitting module is enclosed within a transparent chamber disposed within the envelope and configured with an activation device. The active light emitting module may comprise first and second cells stacked in series polarity, a removable insulating strip disposed between the first and second cells, and a light emitting device (LED) having first and second leads coupled to respective negative and positive terminals of the stacked cells. A housing including a spring for biasing the LED, the cells, and the insulating strip together may be provided. In an alternate embodiment, a single cell and a switch may be used in the active light emitting module.

Abstract: Methods of establishing multimedia telecommunication (a multimedia “call”) between equipment (“terminals”). More particularly, the invention provides methods for reducing the time required to establish calls between terminals implementing ITU-T Recommendation H.324 and derived or related standards or recommendations such as 3G-324M. More specifically, it relates to methods and apparatuses for (i) concatenating H.245 messages to pass between the terminals at the start of the call to establish the capabilities of both terminals and agree on the type and format of media and data to be exchanged (ii) using non-standard H.245 messages or standard H.245 messages with non-standard fields to accelerate establishment and (iii) informing each terminal of the capabilities of the other and proposing the type and format of media and data to be exchanged by means of fields inserted in the call signaling protocol used for bearer establishment prior to the H.324 stage of the call.

Abstract: Game data is rendered in three dimensions in the GPU of a game console. A left camera view and a right camera view are generated from a single camera view. The left and right camera positions are derived as an offset from a default camera. The focal distance of the left and right cameras is infinity. A game developer does not have to encode dual images into a specific hardware format. When a viewer sees the two slightly offset images, the user's brain combines the two offset images into a single 3D image to give the illusion that objects either pop out from or recede into the display screen. In another embodiment, individual, private video is rendered, on a single display screen, for different viewers. Rather than rendering two similar offset images, two completely different images are rendered allowing each player to view only one of the images.

Abstract: Techniques for port hopping are presented. A sender and a receiver engage in a communication session with one another and dynamically switch ports during that communication session. A decision to switch ports is based on a data length or packet count of a given transaction occurring during the communication session. The data length and packet count randomly and dynamically change during the communication session and varies from one transaction to another transaction. Any particular port to switch to during the communication session is also randomly and dynamically generated and varies from one transaction to another transaction.

Abstract: A specification of a graphical representation of task dependency has a plurality of task elements each associated with a different task, a resource element having a plurality of attachment locations, and linking elements coupling the task elements to the resource element at the plurality of associated attachment locations. Associations of task elements to attachment locations on the resource element specify an ordering constraint on the tasks associated with the task elements. The tasks are executed according to the graphical representation of task dependency.

Abstract: An implantable electrode assembly for gripping nerves or other bodily structures is disclosed. The assembly comprises first and second spines containing first and second leads with at least one electrode cross rail joining the spines and at least one electrode providing a route for electrical conduction between the first and second lead. Mating structures on the spines allow the spines to be joined for securely attaching the assembly around the nerve.

The phase shifting imaging module includes a first beam splitter configured to split an image radiation beam into first and second image radiation beams. It also includes a first prism configured to align the first and second image radiation beams, and a second beam splitter configured to split the first and second image radiation beams into four image radiation beams. A second prism aligns the four image radiation beams. A phase mask introduces phase retardation between the four image radiation beams, resulting in four phase shifted image radiation beams. A pixilated sensor generates image data based upon each of the four phase shifted image radiation beams.

Abstract: A child resistant senior friendly medication storage and distribution package including a blister portion and a blocking substrate sandwiched between a dispensing substrate and a backing substrate. The procedure to access the medicament is easy for an adult to understand and accomplish, yet difficult for most children. The blister portion contains a base layer and a blister layer. The blister layer includes an article receiving blister designed for holding the medicament. The dispensing substrate has a dispensing substrate blister receiver. The blister receiver is configured to cooperate with the blister so it extends through the dispensing substrate. The blocking substrate includes a gate that initially covers a portion of the blister. The gate must be moved, or slid, out of the way in order to eject the medicament. The user applies a force to the gate causing it to translate between the backing substrate and the dispensing substrate.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a novel protein, TR10, which is a member of the tumor necrosis factor (TNF) receptor superfamily and the TRAIL receptor subfamily. In particular, isolated nucleic acid molecules are provided encoding the human TR10 protein. TR10 polypeptides are also provided as are vectors, host cells and recombinant methods for producing the same. The invention further relates to screening methods for identifying agonists and antagonists of TR10 activity.

Abstract: The apparatus of the present invention provides a lash adjuster feed channel for an engine assembly. The engine assembly includes first and second sets of hydraulic lash adjusters responsive to a variation in hydraulic fluid pressure to cause a variation in lift of first and second sets of engine valves respectively operatively connected thereto. The cylinder head defines a first feed passage in fluid communication with the first set of hydraulic lash adjusters, and a second feed passage in fluid communication with the second set of hydraulic lash adjusters. The valve lift of the first set of engine valves is independently variable by controlling the transfer of hydraulic pressure in the first feed passage, and the valve lift of the second set of engine valves is independently variable by controlling the transfer of hydraulic pressure in the second feed passage. A corresponding method is also provided.

Abstract: An active stream format is defined and adopted for a logical structure that encapsulates multiple data streams. The data streams may be of different media. The data of the data streams is partitioned into packets that are suitable for transmission over a transport medium. The packets may include error correcting information. The packets may also include clock licenses for dictating the advancement of a clock when the data streams are rendered. The format of ASF facilitates flexibility and choice of packet size and in specifying maximum bit rate at which data may be rendered. Error concealment strategies may be employed in the packetization of data to distribute portions of samples to multiple packets. Property information may be replicated and stored in separate packets to enhance its error tolerance. The format facilitates dynamic definition of media types and the packetization of data in such dynamically defined data types within the format.

Abstract: A stackable cleaner or product applicator is described in which a rigid applicator body has a downwardly opening compartment surrounded by a skirt and an upper compartment surrounded by an upwardly extending wall, the upper compartment containing a foam body and fluid or gel and being closed by means of a removable top wall fixed to the top periphery of the upwardly extending wall. The removable top has a tab to aid opening. The downwardly extending skirt is sized to accept the upwardly extending wall of an identical unit whereby multiple units may be stacked in a nested configuration. A cap is provided to cover the top of the uppermost cleaner in a stack. The cap has an opening adapted to engage the removable top tab and act as a lever for easy opening.

Abstract: The present invention is an apparatus and method for allowing a user to search for specific content across many television channels in order to locate desirable television shows related to the searched content. Multiplexed cable signals flow thorough a logical unit which buffers text associated with the voice stream of each station via the pre-encoded closed-captioning signal or through the real-time voice translation within the logical unit. The user then enters search terms through one of a variety of different input devices. Upon entry of the search terms, the logical unit will compare the entered term with those available keywords stored in each buffer. Lexical parsing associates terms which may differ from plural to singular forms, or in tense. Additionally, synonym comparisons may be made. The logical unit will return a list of matches for the search criteria and allows the user the option of going directly to the television program.
