Abstract: A novel organic cation transporter (OCT) gene, OCT 6, and use thereof is described. The OCT6 gene is preferentially expressed in human hematopoietic tissues, including CD34+ cells and leukemia cells. Its narrow tissue distribution, substrate specificity, and close homology to other cell membrane transporters make OCT6 an attractive target for the treatment of myeloid diseases.

Abstract: A portal for a computer network for viewing and sharing information related to real property includes a web page for a registered user displaying a plurality of real property listings resulting from a search of current real property listings and a plurality of agent identifiers displayed on the web page representing real property agents associated with the registered user. Information is dragged and dropped by the registered user onto the agent identifier to share the information with the real property agent. Each of the real property agents preferably has a unique agent icon and the unique agent icons are displayed near information associated with the real property agent identified by the unique agent icon. The real property listings are preferably displayed on graphical images of cards.

Abstract: A vehicle step tube comprising a one-piece elongated extrusion having a plurality of vertical ribs extending from the upper surface. The ribs are relatively short in a step portion of the extrusion to form a step platform. The ribs are relatively tall in the non-step portions flanking the step portion. The ribs define transverse recesses in the step portion to enhance traction and aesthetics.

Abstract: A seismic coupling is provided for coupling a first longitudinal section of plain end plastic pipe to a second longitudinal section of plastic pipe. The coupling is provided in two halves with a left half being initially installed on the plain end of the first section of pipe. An internal shoulder is fused onto the first section of pipe and a right half of the coupling is then fused onto the left half to capture the first end of pipe within the coupling. The second pipe end is then installed within an end opening of the coupling and held in position by a connector installed between the right half of the coupling and the second pipe end. Internal seals are provided for sealing the first and second pipe ends within the interior of the coupling.

Abstract: A by-pass control system for a meat injection system has a variable speed pump that transports fluid to a meat injection machine. Excess fluid is transported to a by-pass control valve. The valve has a moveable piston disposed therein that separates the valve into a fluid chamber and an air chamber. The piston moves back and forth based on the relationship between fluid pressure and air pressure. Sensors are disposed within or through the lid or the valve to sense the position of the piston. A controller is connected to the sensors and the variable speed pump and adjusts the speed of the pump based on the position of the piston.

Abstract: Described herein is a novel three domain gene from Schizochytrium, denoted carotene synthase, that encodes a protein with three different enzymatic activities: phytoene dehydrogenase (PD), phytoene synthase (PS), and lycopene cyclase (LC). Also described is the isolated gene encoding the carotene synthase, homologues thereof, the enzyme encoded by such gene, biologically active portions and homologues thereof, recombinant nucleic acid molecules, microorganisms and plants that have been genetically modified to increase or decrease the action of such gene, and methods of producing carotenoids and derivatives thereof or methods of producing microorganisms and lipid products lacking pigmentation using the knowledge of the carotene synthase described herein.

Abstract: Embodiments of the present invention allow for media erasure. Various embodiments allow for controlling an actuator based on feedback signal measurements and disk phase to seek a head across a surface of a disk systematically for an erasure operation. Also, in various embodiments, a substantially repeatable seek motion of a head across a stroke may be determined, and launch points at which the head is launched over a disk in the seek motion for erasing at least a portion of the disk are determined based on disk phase.

Abstract: An integrated circuit, such as an integrated circuit memory or buffer device, method and system, among other embodiments, generate a plurality of error codes, such as CRC codes, corresponding to control information, write data and read data transactions, respectively. The plurality of separately generated CRC codes is logged or stored in respective storage circuits, such as circular buffers. The stored plurality of CRC codes corresponding to each transaction then may be used to determine whether an error occurred during a particular transaction and thus whether a retry of the particular transaction is issued. The integrated circuit includes a compare circuit to compare a CRC code generated by the integrated circuit with a CRC code provided by a controller device. A CRC code corresponding to read data is transferred to a controller device using a data mask signal line that is not being used during a read transaction.

The system includes control valves which permit the air in the air springs to be exhausted therefrom to lower the vehicle frame without exhausting the air from the auxiliary air reservoirs.

The rental vehicle services provider computer network is configured to interconnect a geographically diverse plurality of branch offices, cataloguing their available rental vehicles and schedules for same as well as handling all transactional data relating to its business. The Internet web portal provides ubiquitous connectivity and portability for a multi-level business organization who regularly places high volumes of rental purchases with its business partner.

The quality of a data eye associated with a signal is evaluated by sampling the signal for a plurality of different phases; evaluating the samples to evaluate one or more of a height and width of the data eye; and determining whether the one or more of the height and width satisfy one or more predefined criteria. One or more parameters of the communications device can optionally be adjusted if the communications device does not satisfy the one or more predefined criteria. The communications device can optionally be assigned to a quality category based on the evaluation. A phase offset between a first clock signal used to sample the signal and one or more clocks used to sample data is reduced.

Abstract: This invention relates to a method and apparatus for transmitting a downlink signal from a communication station to one or more subscriber units to achieve a desired radiation level over a desired sector (e.g., everywhere), the communication station including an array of antenna elements and one or more signal processors programmed (in the case of programmable signal processors) to weight the downlink signal according to one of a sequence of complex valued weight vectors. The method includes sequentially repeating transmitting the downlink signal, each repetition with a different weight vector from the sequence until all weight vectors in the sequence have been transmitted with. The sequence is designed for achieving the desired radiation level during at least one of the repetitions. In this way, every user in the desired region is transmitted to in the time period.

Abstract: An apparatus for optical receiver circuit protection includes a bias source, a bias monitor, and a comparator. The bias source is to provide a bias voltage to an optical receiver. The bias monitor is coupled to measure a current through the optical receiver, where the current changes responsive to received optical energy. A comparator is coupled to the bias monitor, where the comparator has a first state if the current is less than a threshold current level and where the comparator has a second state if the current is greater than the threshold current level. The bias source is coupled to be enabled responsive to the comparator switching to the first state and disabled responsive to the comparator switching to the second state.
