  • Patent number: 8139081
Abstract: Systems and methods for converting between a first color space format and a second color space format are described herein. The system receives a video cell in a first color space format comprising a plurality of pixels. Each pixel in the cell has a luminance value and a chrominance value. The luminance values of each pixel are compared to determine the brightest pixel in the received cell. The cell is downsampled to generate a second cell in a second color space format. The second cell in the second color space format comprises a downsampled chrominance value that is computed based at least in part on the chrominance value of the brightest pixel. The method advantageously reduces tinting of a high intensity pixel by the chrominance component of a neighboring low-intensity pixel.

  • Patent number: 8021043
Abstract: A digital radiographic detector has a detector panel that forms digital image data according to radiation exposure energy. An enclosure houses the detector panel, formed from an electrically conductive material and having a base with an inner base surface and an outer base surface and having, along its perimeter, one or more side walls that extend orthogonally from the inner base surface. A base magnetic shield extends as a layer of nanocrystalline material across at least one of the inner base surface and the outer base surface. A cover is formed from a non-conductive material and has a cover magnetic shield of a layer of a metallic alloy bonded to an inner surface. A side wall magnetic shield extends along one or more surfaces of the one or more side walls, wherein the side wall magnetic shield has at least one of the nanocrystalline material or the metallic alloy.

  • Publication number: 20110106919
Abstract: A client process may identify a local DNS server and may change a DHCP-supplied DNS setting to the local DNS server when the local DNS server is present. The client process may periodically monitor the local DNS server and, if the local DNS server is not present, the client process may revert the DNS setting to the originally supplied DHCP DNS setting. The client process may actively monitor the local DNS server by initiating communication with the local DNS server, or may passively monitor by listening for activity by the local DNS server.

  • Publication number: 20110099616
Abstract: An authentication mechanism in a local area network may use a cloud authentication mechanism to allow or deny authentication requests. A user may gain access within a local area network by entering a cloud identification and password, which may be verified by a cloud authentication mechanism. If the authentication is successful from the cloud authentication mechanism, the user identification and password are stored locally for subsequent authentication requests. In some embodiments, the cloud password may be periodically flushed so that subsequent requests may be passed to the cloud authentication mechanism. The authentication mechanism may be used in both domain and workgroup local area networks, and may operate in parallel with other users who may have local area network or client credentials which may not be authenticated from the cloud.

  • Patent number: 7914498
Abstract: An improved catheter system having a hub including a self-suturing mechanism comprising a circular needle rotatably slidable in a circular groove in the hub. The needle is sharpened to a point at an end and preferably is also formed into a tang for use as a handle. The hub is flattened on a side to be adjacent to the skin, defining a hub flat thus truncating the groove through, for example, 60° thereof. After the catheter is positioned in the blood vessel, the flat is pressed against the skin. The circular needle is rotated through an angle such that the circular needle passes through a portion of the skin, thereby “self-suturing” the hub to the skin of the patient. The hub is thus firmly attached to the patient, and no separate suturing is required. De-suturing of the catheter requires only reverse rotation of the circular needle.

  • Patent number: 7734749
Abstract: The Device Model Agent (DMA), the device side technology module in Device Centric Services (DCS) system, is the main focus of this invention. DMA is a thin, efficient applications/services execution environment. DMA provides an embedded services platform for enabling system management applications and services. This allows a flexible, extensible, dynamic services management module allowing networked services to be designed, added, and managed within the system without modifications to devices, DCS system, or DMA itself. While this invention specifically describes the integration of benefits from DMA into document system devices, the concepts are equally applicable in other domains. The DMA runtime environment is a thin software interface layer that resides on a document system device between the Java runtime environment and embedded web server.

  • Publication number: 20100136517
Abstract: Methods and apparatus for stabilization of aggregation-based assays are described. In various embodiments, anti-analytes are dispersed within a matrix. A solution containing analytes brought into contact with the matrix, so that analytes may permeate throughout at least a portion of the matrix. In some embodiments, the anti-analytes and analytes are mobile within the matrix. As aggregates form and increase in size, the aggregates become substantially immobile within the matrix. As a result, signals representative of an amount of aggregation within the matrix can remain substantially constant. In various aspects, matrix-stabilized aggregation-based assays provide for reliable quantitative analysis of analyte concentration with test solutions.

  • Publication number: 20100114148
Abstract: An implant for placement within a hollow body organ having a member with an undeployed shape, for delivery within a hollow body, and one or more deployed shapes, for implantation therein. The member has sufficient rigidity in its deployed shape to exert an outward force against an interior of the hollow body so as to bring together two substantially opposing surfaces of the hollow body. The implant also includes a means for changing the deployed shape of the member while implanted within the hollow body.

  • Patent number: 7677205
Abstract: An alley for processing animals such as cattle or buffaloes is described which includes a pair of spaced-apart alleys at the entrance end of the alley and a single alley at the exit end of the pair of alleys at the entrance end of the alley. The outer side walls of the alleys are easily adjusted to vary the width thereof thereby enabling the alley to accommodate animals of different sizes. Rear-up prevention device mechanisms are also provided in each of the alleys to prevent the animals from raring up and falling over backwards. The alley may be either portable or stationary.

  • Publication number: 20090292806
Abstract: A management system for remote services may use an administrative server within a local area network to manage the remote services for many manageable entities. The administrative server may connect to a clearinghouse server outside the local area network to obtain information about available remote services and to consolidate some operations for interfacing to the remote services. In some embodiments, the clearinghouse server may act as a proxy for many different remote services and may enable some functions to be aggregated across different remote services, such as billing, authentication, provisioning, and other functions. The administrative server may configure the managed entities to access the remote services as well as other functions.

  • Patent number: 7601413
Abstract: Carpet tiles having patterns and color schemes that obviate the need to orient the tiles relative to each other. The tiles exhibit orthogonal ambiguity, meaning that they may be laid in any side-by-side orientation with respect to adjacent tiles without looking out of place to the ordinary viewer and thereby still achieving an appearance of continuity like broadloom carpet. Each tile has patterns of shapes having some straight sides and that appear to be randomly positioned but oriented with some straight sides parallel to carpet tile sides. The shapes are formed from a color or combination of colors so that adjacent shapes on each tile have at least one color in common. Furthermore, each tile has at least one color in common with every other tile, so that when the tiles are laid, the colors on adjacent tiles coordinate. All of the colors have similar intensities so that no one color will significantly stand out from the other colors.
