    Abstract: The electrocatalysts in certain fuel cell systems can be poisoned by impurities in the fuel stream directed to the fuel cell anodes. Introducing a variable concentration of oxygen into the impure fuel stream supplied to the fuel cells can reduce or prevent poisoning without excessive use of oxygen. The variation may be controlled based on the voltage of a carbon monoxide sensitive sensor cell incorporated in the system. Further, the variation in oxygen concentration may be periodic or pulsed. A variable air bleed method is particularly suitable for use in solid polymer fuel cell systems operating on fuel streams containing carbon monoxide.

    Abstract: A process for formulating a ruminant food ration in which the methionine needs of the ruminant are determined, a plurality of natural or synthetic feed ingredients and the nutrient composition of each of said ingredients are identified wherein one of said ingredients is 2-hydroxy-4-(methylthio)butanoic acid or a salt, amide or ester thereof, and a ration is formulated from the identified feed ingredients to meet the determined methionine needs of the ruminant which comprises one or more grains, a hydroxy analog of methionine, and optionally a bypass fat wherein (i) the hydroxy analog of methionine is selected from the group consisting of 2-hydroxy-4-(methylthio)butanoic acid and the salts, amides and esters thereof, (ii) the hydroxy analog of methionine is added separately from any bypass fat which is included in the ration, and (iii) the ration is formulated on the basis that at least 20% of the hydroxy analog of methionine is assumed to be available for absorption by the ruminant.

The system comprises at least one ADSI device, like a screen-display terminal, and one or more remote sites, like computer network site locations, wherein at least one of the remote sites contains ADSI feature files. The ADSI device stores ADSI download feature files in a storage location, receives and stores a downloaded ADSI feature file from the remote site, and uses the ADSI feature. The telephony network connects the ADSI device to the remote site. A network application server connects the remote site comprising of at least one ADSI feature file with the ADSI device. The user of the ADSI device selects the ADSI feature file on the remote site and the ADSI feature file is then retrieved from the remote site and is downloaded into the storage location.

    Abstract: Compounds termed "vitaletheine modulators" which include beta-alanyl-taurine and carbobenzoxy beta-alanyl-taurine are synthesized and added to culture media for in vitro culture of cells such as mammalian or plant cells. The compounds support cell vitality, and provide increased cellular life span, increased cellular bioproductivity, improved cellular function, and adaption of resistant cells to culturing. Carbobenzoxy beta-alanyl-taurine is produced by coupling .beta.-alanine, which has it's terminal amine protected with a carbobenzoxy (CBZ) group, to N-hydroxysuccinimide to produce an active ester of .beta.-alanine, coupling two of the active esters to cystamine to produce a CBZ-protected .beta.-alethine having an internal disulfide bond, isolating and purifying the CBZ-protected .beta.-alethine, and reacting the CBZ-protected .beta.-alethine with iodine to oxidize the disulfide bond to obtain carbobenzoxy beta-alanyl-taurine.

In broad terms, the container includes a container body having self-sustaining wall structure of predetermined thickness formed from a synthetic resin composition. The quantity of the coloring agent is correlated with the thickness of the wall structure to permit transmission through the wall structure of no more than 10% of light having a wavelength of between about 400 nm to 450 nm while permitting transmission through the wall structure of adequate visible light to allow external visual inspection of printed characters on solid medicinal tablets and capsules stored in the container. In addition, an amount of a UV absorber is dispersed in the resin composition.

    Abstract: An endless track structure to replace the wheels of an all-terrain vehicle, that is adequately attached to the existing wheel hub by a removable mounting shaft. This provides a non-rigid frame that supports spaced apart synchronized driving cog wheels. This frame has mounted within its upper portion, two hexagon bore anti-friction bearings that slide onto a hexagon shaped thin wall sleeve, allowing the assembled track structure to be installed as a unit. There are spaced idler wheels in front and rear portions of the non rigid frame that support the track. They form a triangular configuration with raised front portion and flat rear portion. A non rigid frame provides interconnected resilient leaf spring supports located in the front and rear of the track.An endless track maintains its appropriate configuration over the driving cog wheels by the front and rear idler wheels, and under the lower course by spaced apart slider rub bars supported by a flexible frame.

    Abstract: A flow measuring device for indicating the leak status of a pressurized fluid-carrying line pressurized by a pump includes an electronic leak sensing module connected in fluid communication with the pressurized line and configured for insertion within a detection port of a pump manifold. The module includes a thermal sensor effected by flow through the pressurized line, whereby leaks in the pressurized line are detected by monitoring the thermal sensor for changes in output signal that correspond to flow through the pressurized fluid-carrying line. The flow measuring device includes a system control unit for monitoring the electronic leak sensing module and indicating the leak status of the pressurized line. Wires which provide power to the leak sensing module, the system control unit and the pump for pressurizing the pressurized line are also used for communication.
