  • Patent number: 9924880
Abstract: A method implemented by a device to measure a bodily parameter includes transmitting, by a transmit (Tx) antenna of an antenna pair, a first radar pulse to a receive (Rx) antenna of the antenna pair. The method also includes receiving, by the receive (Rx) antenna, the first radar pulse. The first radar pulse travels through a radar target between the Tx antenna and the Rx antenna. The method further includes transmitting, by the Tx antenna, a second radar pulse to the Rx antenna. In addition the method includes receiving, by the Rx antenna, the second radar pulse, wherein the second radar pulse travels through the radar target between the Tx antenna and the Rx antenna. Abstract: A method implemented using a device to measure hemodynamic parameters is provided. The method includes transmitting, by the client device, a message to the server. The method includes capturing, by a camera, a first image of a plurality of images of a target region while two light emitting diode (LED) sensors emit light, via a collimated lens, on the target region. The method also includes capturing, by the camera, a second image of the plurality of images of the target region while the two LED sensors emit light, via the collimated lens, on the target region. The second image is captured a predetermined time after the first image is captured. The method further includes determining one or more hemodynamic parameters based on a difference between the first captured image and the second captured image.

  • Publication number: 20140207398
Abstract: Various apparatuses and methods are provided for monitoring individual appliance energy consumption using non-intrusive load monitoring (NILM). For example, one method includes detecting an ON event and an OFF event within a segment of streaming power input and extracting the streaming power input associated with the ON event in response to detecting the ON event. The extracted streaming power input includes a waveform associated with the ON event recorded over a time frame. The method also includes normalizing the waveform to reveal one or more unique variations and classifying the normalized waveform based on the one or more unique variations. The method further includes matching the ON event with a correlating OFF event based at least on the classification of the normalized waveform and calculating power consumed from a time of the ON event to a time of the OFF event.

  • Patent number: 7472138
Abstract: A system and method in a data processing system for recovering data in a file system. A request to modify a data block in the file system is detected. In response to detecting the request to modify the data block, metadata describing the data block in the file system is written in a log. In response to detecting an error during the writing of the metadata, an error counter is incremented. Finally, in response to a request to recover the data in the file system, the metadata is read only if the error counter is less than or equal to a predetermined value.

  • Publication number: 20070053276
Abstract: An optical system for writing on a double-sided medium is disclosed. A beam source is configured to generate a light beam in a first direction relative to a first side of the medium. A steering mechanism is able to direct the light beam in a second direction substantially along the first side, such that the light beam is configured to impinge on a first reflector. The first reflector is able to reflect the light beam in a third direction, such that the light beam is routed outside a substantially opaque annulus of the medium, and is configured to impinge on a second reflector. The second reflector is able to reflect the light beam in a fourth direction substantially opposite the second direction, such that the light beam is configured to impinge on a third reflector. The third reflector is able to reflect the light beam in a fifth direction substantially toward a second side of the medium opposite the first side, such that the light beam strikes the second side of the medium.

  • Patent number: 5361813
Abstract: An apparatus and method for making wood patches wherein an elongate piece of wood patch stock is inserted longitudinally into an end of the apparatus. The wood patch stock is incrementally moved toward cutting blades by a clamp mounted on a carriage. A channel guides the elongate into a cutter clamp, which immobilizes the elongate patch stock for cutting by the cutter blades. The cutter blades pass transversely across the clamped elongate patch stock to cut a wood patch. The cut wood patch is blown into an exit chute, and the process is repeated.
