  • Patent number: 4698216
Abstract: Aqueous phorphoric acid solutions are produced by contacting an elemental phosphorus-containing material with an oxygen-containing gas, while both are finely divided and well mixed together in a reactor vessel, while the phosphorus-containing material is otherwise protected from direct contact with oxygen in the atmosphere by being blanketed with a protective aqueous layer, and removing and recovering the heat generated in the reactor vessel (e.g., by means of a heat exchanger) due to the contact between the oxygen in the oxygen-containing gas and the elemental phosphorus in the elemental phosphorus-containing material. The technique is useful for the production of phosphoric acid from substantially pure elemental phosphrous.

  • Patent number: 4686355
Abstract: A collapsible mirror-heater unit for assisting in the application of ostomy pads is disclosed. A dual-faced mirror is pivotally mounted in a frame to expose either face and a heater is also pivotally mounted on the frame to be located in either of a stored or operative position. The device may be collapsed into its frame to provide a compact, box-like unit for storage.

  • Patent number: 4581961
Abstract: An adjustable screw driver having an improved structure, and more particularly to an adjustable screw driver with a detachable shank having two different tips, a symmetrically-grooved handle on which a flute is set for disposing a wire spring which is attached to the handle by a screw at one end and associated with a control plate by its other end through an aperture of the plate having a square engaging hole at the center. A piece of restraining board having a cut on its periphery is fixed to the bottom of the handle by screws.

  • Patent number: 4441710
Abstract: A bowling ramp attachment for wheelchairs. The ramp attachment includes a ramp in the form of a pair of spaced rod members which extend in an inclined manner from the seat area of the wheelchair to the floor. The ramp is slidingly attached to the wheelchair so as to be selectively movable across the front of the wheelchair. A pair of vertically extending posts are releasably clamped to the front frame members of the wheelchair. A cross bar is slidingly carried by the posts so as to be movable laterally across the front of the wheelchair. The cross bar is slidingly attached to the ramp to enable the ramp and the cross bar to be selectively positioned across the front of the wheelchair for directing a bowling ball in a variety of paths toward the bowling pins. In another embodiment, the bowling ramp is configured for free standing use with a wheelchair and includes a pair of support posts which are supported in an upright manner on the floor.

  • Patent number: 4416231
Abstract: A low speed air bleed absorption reduction oil saving device for carburetor characterized in the ability to turn air valve to open automatically in circumstances where the automobile concerned is reducing its speed, going downhill or the carburetor is experiencing a momentous absorption internally such that the rotation speed of the engine remains above 950 RPM, equivalent to a speed in motion that is higher than 25 Kms per hour as executed by the high-speed gear, so as to enable the air to enter the cylinder via the air filter so as to hold down the vacuum absorption so as to prevent overfilling of gasoline into the cylinder thereby achieving the objective of saving of use of gasoline fuels.

  • Patent number: 4351406
Abstract: An amusement and exercising vehicle for physically handicapped persons is driven by a motor. Operational movement of the drive mechanism is translated into reciprocal movement of the foot pedals. The foot pedals are provided with orthopedic braces for supporting the legs of the driver whereby the legs are supported for exercising movement by the motor during movement of the vehicle. In a second embodiment, the vehicle is further provided with a motorized drive mechanism to permit operation of the drive mechanism and the corresponding reciprocal movement of the foot pedals by persons unable to achieve such movement independently. In a third embodiment, the vehicle includes a mechanism for preventing the transmission of power from the motorized drive mechanism to a foot support when reciprocal movement of the foot support is hindered by the leg of the occupant.

  • Patent number: 4265078
Abstract: A plurality of gleaner units are attached to the header of a self propelled cotton stripping unit, the cotton strippers having been removed. The gleaner units have an improved arm having a bifurcation at the end which permits easier adjustment of the length of the arm to maintain the belts tight. The bifurcated distal end also resulting in a longer life and more maintenance free ground pulley attachment.
