Abstract: A display system having a display apparatus and an external input apparatus, and a method of controlling the same. In the method an image is displayed on a display apparatus. A phase shift of an external input apparatus is detected. The detected phase shift is transmitted to the display apparatus, and the image displayed on the display apparatus is rotated based on the detected phase shift.

Abstract: An apparatus and method of transceiving a bit stream, by which a video bit stream is stably transmitted by the effective use of two logic channels when communication is established by the two logic channels during transmission of the video bit stream in a communication network, is provided. In this method, a source is encoded into a bit stream using a predetermined type of coding. Then, the encoded bit stream is transmitted to each communication protocol layer, while the header of each communication protocol layer is added to a payload. The header is transmitted separately from the bit stream.

Abstract: A method for providing information on types of image apparatus being used and an image apparatus adopting the same are provided. The method for providing information on the types of image apparatus being used includes transmitting a request message to external devices inquiring whether or not the external device which is connected using a high definition multimedia interface consumer electronics control (HDMI CEC) standard is a device of a particular type, and receiving from the external devices a response message answering whether or not the external device is a device of the particular type, in response to the request message. Accordingly, information on the type of connected external devices is obtained, and a list of external devices or a menu of external devices is provided according to the obtained type to the user so that the user can use the image apparatus more conveniently.

Abstract: A method and device for bi-directionally transmitting and receiving data during an allocated time period are provided. The device includes a Physical Layer (PHY) module receiving a Medium Access Control (MAC) frame through a wireless medium, a MAC module reading a value of a first field in the received MAC frame, wherein the first field specifies whether there is more data to be sent, and a transmission rights determining module determining that a transmission right has been passed to the wireless device when the value of the first field is a first bit and a channel is idle during a predetermined threshold time after reception of the MAC frame, wherein the first bit represents that there is no more data to be sent.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for transmitting and receiving data generated on an application according to the High Definition Media Interface Consumer Electronics Control (HDMI CEC) standard are provided. The method and apparatus enable transmission and reception of audio, video and control signals through CEC of an integrated HDMI cable, without using a complicated TCP/IP structure. As a result, wiring is simple and Audio/Video (AV) devices are used dynamically.

Abstract: A packet generating method in a wireless High Definition Multimedia Interface (HDMI) environment includes generating a packet which includes either AV data or control data in a payload and a field indicative of a packet type in a header according to a HDMI environment; and transmitting the generated packet. Accordingly, the AV data and the control data can be transceived over the single channel in the HDMI.

Abstract: An address management method and a video apparatus using the same are provided. The address management method includes determining whether an external device is connected or not; when determining the connection to the external device, generating an invalidation message for invalidating an address; and transmitting the generated invalidation message to the external device. Accordingly, when the port connection is changed, the physical address can be correctly updated by invalidating the former physical address.

Abstract: A method for providing service information and a video apparatus employing the same are provided. The method for providing service information includes transmitting a request message for service information provided by an external apparatus connected according to the High Definition Multimedia Interface Consumer Electronics Control (HDMI CEC) standard, and receiving a reply message for the service information from the external apparatus as a reply to the request message. Accordingly, the video apparatus provides service information provided by the external apparatus connected thereto to a user.

Abstract: A method of providing key code information of an external device and a video device thereof are provided. The method of providing key code information includes transmitting a message for requesting supportable key code information of a connected external device, and receiving a response message regarding the supportable key code information from the external device in response to the request message. Accordingly, the video device can provide the key code information supported by the external device to a user.

Abstract: An address management method and a device thereof are provided. The address management method includes checking by a device whether logical addresses are currently being used by external devices; and setting by the device a non-use logical address as a logical address of the device regardless of the type of the device, if the device determines that the non-use logical address exists. Therefore, a device may use all logical addresses regardless of its device type, and may also have a logical address even though all logical addresses corresponding to its device type are currently being used.

Abstract: An inactive information providing method of a video apparatus includes, in an inactive mode, generating an inactive message which provides notification of the inactive mode; and transmitting the inactive message to an external device connected according to a High Definition Multimedia Interface (HDMI) Consumer Electronics Control (CEC) specification.

Abstract: An address management method and a device thereof are provided. The address management method includes determining by a device whether all logical addresses corresponding to a type of the device are currently being used by external devices; setting by the device a non-use logical address as a logical address of the device, if it is determined that one of the logical addresses is currently not in use; and setting by the device a predetermined logical address as a logical address of the device, if it is determined that all the logical addresses are currently being used. Therefore, logical addresses may be allocated to a device even if all logical addresses corresponding the type of the device are currently being used.

Abstract: A method of retransmitting a data frame and a network apparatus using the method are provided. In the method performed in a wireless network, a first network apparatus transmits a data frame requesting a response frame. A second network apparatus determines a type of response frame according to a reception mode of the data frame. The second network apparatus transmits the determined type of response frame to the first network apparatus. The first network apparatus retransmits the data frame according to the type of the response frame transmitted to the first network apparatus.

Abstract: A method and apparatus are provided for communication among many coordinator-based wireless networks connected together through a wired backbone network using wired/wireless connecting devices. According to the method and apparatus, communication is allowed between wireless devices belonging to different coordinator-based wireless networks through wired/wireless connecting devices using physical addresses, whose uniqueness is ensured across the whole network, instead of using ID information assigned by a PNC, as physical addresses of a destination network device and a source belonging to different coordinator-based wireless networks.

Abstract: A method for broadcasting a data packet in a wireless universal serial bus (USB) environment, a method for receiving the data packet being broadcasted, a wireless USB host, and a wireless USB device are provided. The method for broadcasting a data packet in a wireless USB environment includes generating a management packet containing broadcast Channel Time Allocation (CTA) information, transmitting the management packet to at least one USB device within a cluster of USB devices, and broadcasting a data packet during a time indicated by the broadcast CTA information.

Abstract: A method and an apparatus for communication between a coordinator-based wireless network and a different type of network interconnected through a wired backbone network by means of a wired/wireless connecting device are disclosed. In the method, in order to communicate with a network device connected to a different type of network other than a coordinator-based wireless network, a network device in the coordinator-based wireless network provides a frame containing type information on the different type of network and information on a length of a physical address supported by the different type of network, and a wireless/wired connecting device converts the frame of the coordinator-based wireless network to another type of frame supported by the different type of network, and transmits the converted frame.

Abstract: A method for communication between first and second coordinator-based wireless networks connected through a backbone network is provided. The method includes receiving a frame indicating data transmission containing information needed for remote channel time allocation (CTA) from a repeater connecting the second coordinator-based wireless network with the backbone network, sending a remote CTA frame in order for the repeater to request CTA from the coordinator within the second coordinator-based wireless network, and receiving a data frame originated from the first coordinator-based wireless network and then provided by the repeater during assigned channel time.

Abstract: A method for managing an address and a video apparatus using the same are provided. The method for managing an address includes acquiring an address of the apparatus, and determining whether or not the acquired address and an address of one of the external apparatuses collide if a command for resetting an address is received from another one of external apparatuses. As a result, collision of addresses between apparatuses may be prevented.

Abstract: A method and system for communication between wireless networks connected through a wired network in a coordinator-based wireless network environment are provided. According to the method for communication, a wired/wireless relay device that attempts to associate with an initial coordinator-based wireless network notifies a coordinator of information indicating that it acts as a relay device. The coordinator sends the information to wireless network devices within an appropriate coordinator-based wireless network, and each of the wireless network devices transmits data to be transmitted to a device within a different coordinator-based wireless network to the relay device. When the relay device sends the data to a relay device in a coordinator-based wireless network a destination wireless network device belongs to through a wired network, the relay device in the same coordinator-based wireless network as the destination wireless network device sends the data to the destination wireless network device.

Abstract: A method of controlling a terminal of the MPEG-4 system to enable to faster reproduce the selected contents through a caching mechanism includes, if the contents to be reproduced is selected, the terminal of the MPEG-4 system receives an initial object descriptor of the selected contents from a server, and then determines an object of stream and the priority based on the initial object descriptor, object descriptor, and a scene description. A random object is stored in the cache at the point of reproducing the random object constituting the contents. If a final update time of the object stored in the cache is identical with that of the object existing in the server, the object requested to be reproduced from the cache is reproduced. Accordingly, the method makes it possible to more promptly reproduce the contents requested by a user and to provide more stable contents to the user.
