Abstract: Disclosed is an apparatus and method for data transmission/reception for transmitting/receiving data, which can transmit and receive data by using a transmitter (display device) capable of receiving and displaying digital data, and a receiver capable of receiving digital data by photographing the digital data. The apparatus includes a transmitter for receiving and displaying digital data; and a receiver for photographing and receiving the digital data displayed in the transmitter, and restoring the received digital data, thereby restoring corresponding data information. The method includes receiving and displaying digital data by a transmitter; and photographing and receiving the digital data displayed in the transmitter, and restoring the received digital data and displaying a corresponding data by a receiver.

Abstract: Disclosed is an audio/video data synchronization apparatus for directly transmitting decoded audio/video data to an external device, without compressing the data, using UWB communication. The apparatus synchronizes video and audio data stored in a terminal without compressing the data and simultaneously transmits the data to an external device using UWB communication, so that users can enjoy high-quality images and sounds. In addition, the receiving end does not necessarily incorporate a separate function for decoding moving images, because it receives uncompressed video/audio data. This makes the apparatus simple and convenient.

Abstract: Disclosed is a method for making an emergency call by using a mobile communication terminal. The method includes identifying a current position when a user makes an emergency call request; retrieving an emergency call number from emergency call numbers pre-stored for respective regions, the emergency call number being used in a region corresponding to the current position; and dialing the emergency call number.

Abstract: Provided is a method for sharing data between at least two terminals over a LAN, in which a first terminal requests for information on whether to hold shared data to a terminal connected to the LAN, receives the information on whether to hold the shared data from the terminal, collects the information on whether to hold the shared data received from the terminal, identifies a total degree of sharing using the collected information on whether to hold the shared data, and determines a method for transmitting the shared data according to the identified total degree of sharing.

Abstract: Provided is a speaker device for a portable terminal. The speaker device includes a speaker housing which provides a mounting space for accommodating a speaker unit and a resonating space connected to the mounting space and located around the mounting space. The speaker device solves the disadvantages of a small-size speaker unit, i.e., problems in producing a sound in a bass region, thereby producing a “live” sound. Moreover, the characteristics of a sound can be improved using the speaker housing, without addition of a separate speaker unit or addition or change of software or a circuit, thereby improving the performance of a speaker device of the portable terminal at low cost.

Abstract: An apparatus and method for human activity and facial expression modeling and recognition are based on feature extraction techniques from time sequential images. The human activity modeling includes determining principal components of depth and/or binary shape images of human activities extracted from video clips. Independent Component Analysis (ICA) representations are determined based on the principal components. Features are determined through Linear Discriminant Analysis (LDA) based on the ICA representations. A codebook is determined using vector quantization. Observation symbol sequences in the video clips are determined. And human activities are learned using the Hidden Markov Model (HMM) based on status transition and an observation matrix.

Abstract: An image offset adjustment apparatus for an LCD projector which is constructed to enable the adjustment of an image offset. The LCD projector includes a light source for emitting light, mirrors, and an LCD installed in front of the mirrors so that an image generated in the LCD is enlarged and projected on a screen. The image offset adjustment apparatus includes a projection lens section including a plurality of projection lenses having their respective LCDs at different circumferential positions to have different image offsets; a lens housing for housing the respective projection lenses adjacent to one another in a circumferential direction; rotation means for rotating the lens housing; and a controller for controlling the rotation means so that the lens housing can be controllably rotated to select one of the projection lenses and one of the image offsets as desired by a user.

Abstract: A method and an apparatus for providing position information in a mobile communication system includes setting, at a mobile communication terminal which requests to provide the position information, a position condition to provide the position information. The mobile communication terminal generates a message including the position condition, and sends the generated message to a correspondent terminal of which the position information is to be acquired. The mobile communications terminal also receives a position information request message including the position condition from a correspondent terminal, determines whether the position condition is violated or not by periodically acquiring its position information, and sends a message informing of the position information violation to the correspondent terminal when the position condition is violated.

Importance of the received service message is calculated. When there is no spare space for storing the received service message, a predetermined number of previously stored service messages are displayed according to importance of a message. Abstract: A system and a method of Zigbee communication for actively selecting and accessing a Zigbee network. The Zigbee communication system includes multiple Zigbee coordinators forming multiple Zigbee networks for transmitting information on services of end-devices currently accessing each of the formed multiple Zigbee networks; and an end-device for receiving the information on the services, analyzing the received information on the services, selecting a predetermined one of the multiple Zigbee networks based on results of the analysis, and accessing the selected Zigbee network. Accordingly, the end-device can search services provided by other end-devices over a Zigbee network without gaining access to the Zigbee network, thereby reducing unnecessary resource consumption and wasted time caused by accessing and exiting each Zigbee network by a conventional end-device for service search.
