  • Publication number: 20080223746
Abstract: A display device arrangement (1) comprises a display device (10). The display device (10) comprises a component being degradable upon exposure to an environmental factor such as light or moisture. Such a component may for instance be an organic semiconductor or an organic electro-optical material. The display device arrangement (1) further comprises a container (100) for storing the display device (10). The container (100) comprises protective means (120) that are detached from the flexible display device (10) for reducing the exposure of the degradable component to the environmental factor. Consequently, the lifetime of the display device (10) is increased without having to attach protective barriers to the display device (10) itself.

  • Patent number: 7279702
Abstract: The electronic device of the invention comprises one or more active elements, each comprising a first and a second electrode and an active layer of organic material separating the first and second electrodes. Examples of active elements are thin-film transistors and light-emitting diodes. The active layer comprises a polymeric material having conjugated units A and non-conjugated intermediate units B, which intermediate units B separate the conjugated units A from each other, such that no conjugation extends from a first conjugated unit A1 to a second conjugated unit A2. The polymeric material may be a polymer network, an alternating copolymer or a polymer in which the conjugated units are present in side chains. The polymer can be prepared from monomers having a B1-A1-B2 structure, wherein at least one of B1 and B2 comprises a reactive group enabling polymerization.

  • Patent number: 7032828
Abstract: The invention relates to a substrate which is made from paper and is provided with at least one integrated circuit which is produced from a semiconductive organic polymer. A semiconductive organic polymer of this nature, when used as the base material for the integrated circuit, leads to the possibility of directly producing the substrate in the required thickness, to the need for support layers and/or protective layers being eliminated, and to the possibility of reducing the cost price of the substrate compared to substrates which comprise an integrated circuit of the silicon type.

  • Patent number: 6855949
Abstract: The electronic device includes a thin-film transistor (10) with an active layer (5) that comprises an organic semiconductor material and a carrier material that is free of charge camera. The carrier material has a conductivity below 10?6 S/cm and is preferably electrically insulating. The thin-film transistor (10) has a mobility that is comparable to that of a transistor with an active layer that consists of an organic semiconductor material. Preferably, the organic semiconductor material is an oligomer. The composition used to apply the active layer may contain a photosensitive component. Using such a composition, the active layer can be relief-structured, thereby preventing any leakage current between neighboring transistors in the electronic device.

  • Patent number: 6818920
Abstract: The integrated circuit (10) has a substrate and a memory with a first memory unit (30) containing organic material. The first memory unit (30) has a first (26) and a second electrode (28), which are in the non-programmed state electrically connected by an interconnection (27). On programming, the interconnection (27) is at least partially broken in that it is locally heated. This heating can be effected electrically and optically. By preference the first memory unit (30) is integrated in a first layer (6) of organic material, which also has a first electrode (25) of the integrated circuit (10). The integrated circuit (10) can be used in a transponder which is electrically programmable. In the method of programming, the local heating is effected electrically, by applying a voltage across the first memory unit (30).

  • Patent number: 6635406
Abstract: The present invention provides a method of photochemically producing a vertical interconnect between a first and a second thin-film microelectronic device in an vertical interconnect area which comprises an overlap of a stack of a first electrically conducting area, optionally an organic electrically semiconducting area, an organic electrically insulating area comprising adapted photoresist material and a second organic electrically conducting area, wherein the organic electrically insulating area is removed within the overlapping area and substituted by an electrically conducting area which is extended from at least said first or said second electrically conducting area. The method is useful in the manufacture of electronic devices, preferably integrated circuits, consisting substantially of organic materials.
