Abstract: The present disclosure provides systems and methods for storing messages using multiple communication modalities, in which a first communication is received from a first communication system. The first communication system is configured to communicate using a first standard communication protocol. The first communication is converted to a second communication, which is compatible with a second standard communication protocol. The first communication and second communication are separately stored.

Abstract: A method for delivering a time-sensitive message to a recipient includes receiving the time-sensitive message, the time-sensitive message having a rule set for delivering the time-sensitive message. The rule set is extracted from the time-sensitive message. The rule set specifies a starting time and an expiration time for the time-sensitive message. The time-sensitive message is provided to the recipient based on the starting time. A determination is made if a current time is within a threshold of the expiration time. An extension message is sent to a source of the time-sensitive message if the current time is within a threshold of the expiration time.

Abstract: Systems and methods for intelligently sorting electronic communications, such as electronic advertisements, directed to a media device are disclosed. Prior to presenting the electronic advertisements to the user, the electronic advertisement is filtered into classifications based upon whether the electronic advertisement is from a commercial vendor from whom the user has indicated that he or she wishes to accept commercial electronic advertisements. The user is then presented at the media device with only the electronic advertisements that he or she had indicated were to be accepted.

Abstract: Presence information of a first user in a messaging system, such as an instant messaging system, is relayed to a second user. A first communications client of a first user detects a change in the presence status of a first user and sends an alert message to a second communications client of a second user. Moreover, systems and methods are provided for sending the alert message to an alternate address, including alternate instant messaging (IM) addresses, e-mail address, or telephone numbers, in the event that the intended recipient of the alert message is not accessible at his or her original IM address.

Abstract: The present invention is directed to a method and system for composing a package of application files to be sent as e-mail attachments in e-mail communications. A plurality of data structures are created, wherein each data structure groups together a plurality of different user application files designated as attachments to an e-mail communication. Application files designated from within user applications are associated with selected data structures, such that each designated application file is associated with a selected data structure. During composition of an e-mail communication having attachments, a list of the data structures containing application files are provided.

Abstract: Several embodiments, among others, provided in the present disclosure provide for tokenizing portions of an email message, which previously were not tokenized. The tokenizing of these portions generates tokens that are representative of these portions. The generated tokens are used to determine whether or not the email message is spam. In some embodiments, the tokenized portions may include attachments in email messages. In other embodiments, the tokenized portions may include a simple mail transfer protocol (SMTP) email address and a domain name corresponding to the SMTP email address.

Abstract: A method and system for viewing an attachment to an electronic communication transmitted in an electronic messaging system is disclosed in which the system receives a communication; examines the content of the communication; sends an attachment contained in the communication to an alternate viewing site; and presents the content of the attachment contained in the communication at the alternate viewing site in a universally-viewable format. An alternative embodiment further includes prompting the receiver of the communication for verification of a previously assigned personal identification number.

Accordingly, options are specified for a first communication services this is included in the association. Abstract: Several embodiments, among others, provided in the present disclosure teach a filtering of email messages for spam based on phonetic equivalents of words found in the email message. In some embodiments, an email message having a word is received, and a phonetic equivalent of the word is generated. Thereafter, the phonetic equivalent of the word is tokenized to generate a token representative of the phonetic equivalent. The generated token is then used to determine a spam probability.

Abstract: Embodiments, among others, of the present disclosure provide systems and methods for integrating communication services. Briefly described, in architecture, one embodiment of the system, among others, can be implemented as follows. A communication suite includes several communications accounts for a first communications service and several communications for a second communications service. Logic is configured to detect when one of the communications accounts in the first communication suite for the first communications service is being actively utilized by a user. Upon detection, the logic is configured to make the second communications service available to the user via the communications accounts in the communication suite for the second communications service. Abstract: The present disclosure provides for automatically replying to instant messaging (IM) messages. In some embodiments, an IM message is received by a recipient and displayed to the recipient. If, during a predefined time interval, the recipient does not provide any response to the IM message, then the IM message is automatically replied to.

Briefly described, in architecture, some embodiments of the system, among others, can be implemented as follows. A user interface for a communications service is configured to provide an operation that is restricted from being performed by a user of a communication suite or persona of a child type. The communication suite has at least one communications account of the user for the communications service. Accordingly, logic is provided that determines if the user of a communication suite of the child type is attempting to perform the operation. Other systems and methods are provided.

When a request for data is received, a message log is queried for the data. The message log tracks both wireline communications and electronic communications sent to and received by the user. Abstract: A computer network system establishes an instant messaging (IM) session between a first user registered with a first ISP (ISP) and at least one user registered with a second ISP when the two ISPs operate using different IM protocols. The ISPs each contain a Local IM server connected to each registered user. Each ISP also contains a Universal IM server that is connected to the distributed network. The Universal IM server includes a database that stores routing information and Presence information for each user registered with the second ISPs and facilitates communications between the first and second user using a universal format, such as XML.

Files attached to an electronic communication are compressed based on an examination of the file type; and an identification of an alternative compressed file type. Accordingly, the first (original) file type is compressed into a second preferred, compressed file type for the purpose of streamlining the package to be delivered in the communication.

Abstract: Inconveniences in switching from one Internet service provider (ISP) to another ISP are remedied by providing streamlined approaches that facilitate the migration from one ISP to another ISP.
