  • Patent number: 5987110
Abstract: In an intelligent switched telephone network wherein a redirection service is operative with respect to communications directed to a directory number to direct communications away from the directory number to at least one other directory number, a method and system for bypassing the redirection service and routing a communication to the directory number. A communication received in the network and directed to the directory number has its identification information read and compared to entries in a database of subscriber information for a matching entry. The matching entry is read for a bypass feature, which indicates that the source of the communication is to be given an option of bypassing the redirection service and of having the communication routed to the directory number. In response to finding the bypass feature, the source is accorded an opportunity to enter a password. The entry of the password indicates a desire by the source to take advantage of the bypass option.

  • Patent number: 5740237
Abstract: In an intelligent switched telephone network wherein a network communication redirection service is selectively activated with respect to all communications directed to a directory number to direct communications pursuant to a subscriber preselected redirection scheme, a method and system for a singular activation of the network communication redirection service with respect to a particular communication only. The singular activation of the service for a particular communication is useful in testing the network communication redirection service or redirection scheme. To singularly activate the service for a particular communication, a communication is placed to a selected directory number on a calling line having a predetermined calling line identification number. The communication is received in the network and has its identification information read for the calling line identification number.

  • Patent number: 5590171
Abstract: A method and apparatus for allowing a communication from a calling party (120) to a called party (130) to be monitored by a monitoring party (140) and/or recorded (180, 190). Upon receipt of a communication, the service node (180) of the system reads identification information associated with the communication and establishes a bridge for the communication between the calling party (120) and the called party (130), and establishes a bridge from the communication to a monitoring party (140) and/or to a recorder ( 180, 190) in accordance with the identification information. In response to receiving an indication from the monitoring party (140) to tear down the bridge, the system tears down the bridge. However, the communication remains connected between the calling (120) and called (130) parties. Neither the calling party (120) nor the called party (130) are aware of the monitoring or of the recording of the communication or of the discontinuation of the monitoring.

  • Patent number: 5471519
Abstract: A communications monitoring and control system including methods and apparatus for processing a communication directed to a called party. Upon receipt of a communication, the system determines the location of the called party from a changeable list including locations selectively provided by the called party. The communication may be accepted, rejected or monitored by the called party at the locations provided. If rejected, the communication is routed to a message service. If monitored, the communication is routed to a message service, and a one-way connection from the communication to the called party is established. The calling party is unaware of the connection. The called party may discontinue monitoring or connect to the communication at any time during the communication.
