Abstract: Systems and methods for integrating instant messaging (IM) services and email services are described. In one embodiment, email messages and IM chat session transcripts are threaded to each other so that an email thread history may be traced back to an IM chat session transcript and, conversely, an IM thread history may be traced back to an email message.

A first communications client of a first user detects a change in the presence status of a first user and sends an alert message to a second communications client of a second user.

In still another embodiment, a method for transferring IM messages to a different recipient is provided. In some embodiments, two separate IM chat sessions are merged into a single IM chat session.

Abstract: Methods, apparatus, systems and articles of manufacture (e.g., physical storage media) to authenticate a first device for access to a first service provider are disclosed. Example methods disclosed herein include sending, by executing a first instruction with a processor at a first service provider, an authentication request from the first service provider to a second service provider. The authentication request is generated in response to an access request from the first device and includes an identification code assigned to the first device by the second service provider. Example methods also include obtaining, at the first service provider, an authentication response from the second service provider. The authentication response is generated by the second service provider in response to the authentication request. Example methods further include, based on the authentication response, granting, by executing a second instruction with the processor, the first device access to the first service provider.

Abstract: A system for regulating e-mail comprises a database of information profiling legitimate e-mail usage. When an e-mail is received at the system, it is scrutinized relative to the information in the database. If the e-mail is found to be legitimate based upon this evaluation, it is delivered to the intended recipient. If, however, the e-mail appears on the basis of the evaluation to be the last in a series of illegitimate e-mails or otherwise has characteristics inconsistent with the profile of legitimate e-mail usage, the e-mail may not be delivered and the postmaster and administrator at the source of the e-mail is contacted.

Abstract: Methods, apparatus, systems and articles of manufacture (e.g., physical storage media) to implement centralized authentication for granting access to online services are disclosed. Example authentication methods disclosed herein include accessing an identification code included in an authentication request received from an online service for authentication information associated with a first device, wherein the identification code was previously assigned to provide valid identification of the first device during a first time interval. Disclosed example authentication methods also include, in response to determining a profile selected based on the identification code permits the online service to access the authentication information, evaluating activity information associated with the first device based on the profile to determine the authentication information. Disclosed example authentication methods further include transmitting the authentication information to the online service.

Abstract: Dynamic event-based content distribution is facilitated. In one embodiment, a method comprises evaluating, by a device comprising a processor and communicatively coupled to a content node device of content node devices, a criterion to select content of a plurality of content to present from the content node device to a mobile device, wherein the criterion and selected content are associated with a time-limited event, the time-limited event occurring independent of the mobile device. The method also includes selecting, by the device, a value of values for the selected content, wherein the selected value is based on first geographical information for the time-limited event and second geographical information for the mobile device. The method also includes generating, by the device, information to cause the content node device to present, to the mobile device, the selected content with the selected value, wherein the generating is based on the evaluating and the selecting.

Content cannot be sent to the mobile device when lacking network connectivity. A social network, however, may be retrieved for interim storage of the content. When the mobile device lacks network connectivity, the content may be routed to a member device of the social network. The member device stores the content until the mobile device resumes network connectivity. The member device may then send or forward the content to the mobile device.

The embedded functions are amenable to self-executing codes such as viruses, worms, and Trojan programs. Thus, the modified email message without these embedded functions, and any argument associated with these functions, provides a more secure email environment.
