Patent number: 7134503Abstract: The wellbore pump of the present invention comprises a plunger having passage means which may be open or closed by a valve operated by a piston which is biased in the open position by a spring of selected strength such that the wellbore pressure may overcome the spring to close the valve when the accumulated hydrostatic pressure reaches a certain value. When the valve closes the reservoir pressure forces the plunger to the surface and causes the accumulated liquids to be pumped out of the wellbore. A stem extending from the top of the piston engages a top plate and causes the valve to open when the plunger reaches the top of the wellbore. Means is provided whereby the valve opens when it reaches the top of the wellbore and a latch may be provided to retain the plunger from returning to the bottom of the well.Type: GrantFiled: January 5, 2006Date of Patent: November 14, 2006Assignee: Natural Lift Systems Inc.Inventor: Dan Lee

Patent number: 6842117Abstract: A filter condition sensing circuit includes current and voltage sensors and a data processor. The current and voltage sensors produce signals indicating magnitudes of electrical current and voltage, respectively, provided to an electric motor used to move a fluid (a gas or liquid) through a filter element. During a first time period, the data processor uses the signals to determine an acceptable range of electrical power required by the motor. During a second time period, the data processor uses the signals to determine a magnitude of electrical power required by the motor. When the magnitude of electrical power is within the acceptable range of electrical power, the data processor generates a signal indicating a normal condition of the filter element. A described filter condition indicating system includes the circuit. A method is for determining a condition of a filter element.Type: GrantFiled: May 19, 2003Date of Patent: January 11, 2005Assignee: Filter ense of Texas, Ltd.Inventor: Dan Lee Keown

Patent number: 5928177Abstract: A pivotable cover secures a pump header or tubing to a peristaltic pump of a dialysis machine. The cover includes an integral raceway for engaging the pump header as a rotor of the peristaltic pump rotates along the integral raceway. The cover is pivoted away from the dialysis machine to separate the raceway from the rotor and provide substantial access for loading the pump header about the rotor. The cover is then closed to secure the pump header in place and properly position the integral raceway in relation to the pump rotor. If the pump header is connected to a blood tubing set, the cover also secures the blood tubing set in position against the dialysis machine. A detachable hinge connects the cover to the dialysis machine to allow the cover to be completely detached from the dialysis machine. The detachable cover provides complete access for cleaning the area surrounding the peristaltic pump rotor and the location where the blood tubing set is located.Type: GrantFiled: September 11, 1996Date of Patent: July 27, 1999Assignee: COBE Laboratories, Inc.Inventors: James Brugger, Dan Lee Hendrickson, Jeff Burbank

Patent number: 5867678Abstract: A method and system for retrieving specific types of objects contained within a compound document displayed in a graphical user interface environment within the data processing system. First, in response to user input, a dialog box which includes a listing of object types is displayed within the graphical user interface environment. Next, an object type is selected from among the listing of object types. Thereafter, in response to the selection of the object type, the graphical user interface dynamically searches for the relative location of a first object of the selected object type from among a sequential number of objects of the selected object type contained within the compound document. Next, in response to user controls, the graphical user interface automatically scrolls to the relative location within the compound document of the first object of the selected object type.Type: GrantFiled: December 16, 1996Date of Patent: February 2, 1999Assignee: International Business Machines CorporationInventors: Hatim Yousef Amro, Dan Lee Dao, John Paul Dodson

Patent number: 5844440Abstract: A circuit for limiting the current flow in a "pluggable" circuit during start-up or circuit fault conditions employs a MOSFET in conjunction with a feedback system, wherein a source terminal of the MOSFET is connected to a power supply bus and a drain terminal of the MOSFET is connected to the circuit to be current limited, respectively. A gate terminal of the MOSFET is controlled by a pair of op amps, wherein the first op amp amplifies the voltage across a current sensing resistor between the MOSFET and the circuit and outputs this pre-amplified voltage into the second op amp, and the second op amp amplifies the difference between this pre-amplified voltage and a first reference voltage. The output of the second op amp is connected to the gate terminal of the MOSFET, thereby varying the voltage at the gate terminal, as the output of the second op amp varies.Type: GrantFiled: December 20, 1996Date of Patent: December 1, 1998Assignee: Ericsson, Inc.Inventors: Ronald J. Patent number: 5776091Abstract: A technique for automatically priming and recirculating sterile fluid through an extracorporeal circuit of a dialysis machine having a blood pump, a dialyzer, and a blood tubing set including an arterial line for drawing blood from a patient and a venous line for returning the blood to the patient. The dialysis machine selectively opens and closes clamps on the arterial and venous lines and further operates a waste valve for selectively opening and closing a waste line leading to a waste drain. A connector attaches both the arterial and venous lines to the waste line downstream of the arterial and venous clamps and upstream of the waste valve. The dialysis machine automatically operating the blood pump, the clamps and the waste valve to flush the dialyzer and the blood tubing set with the sterile fluid and direct the used fluid down the waste drain.Type: GrantFiled: October 22, 1996Date of Patent: July 7, 1998Assignee: COBE Laboratories, Inc.Inventors: James Brugger, Dan Lee Hendrickson, Roy Sven Hovland

Patent number: 5685392Abstract: A powered lift platform apparatus is disclosed having a fixed support structure and two independently operable platforms which move in both the vertical and horizontal direction, for use with transport containers, such as trailers, shipping containers or rail cars. Each platform comprises an extended work surface or walkway and two moveable end platforms which extend perpendicularly to the extended work surface. Each platform may be independently raised and lowered, and each may be moved laterally toward the opposite platform. The distance between the two platforms and the length of the end platforms, coupled with the range of lateral movement of each platform, are such that the free ends of opposing end platforms can be juxtapositioned to create a rectangular pathway for workers to completely circle the transport container.Type: GrantFiled: November 3, 1994Date of Patent: November 11, 1997Assignee: Vertex Systems Group, Inc.Inventors: Garry Phillips, Dan Lee, Herbert Worm, Chris Phillips, Lewis Hardwick, Charles Altendorf, Fabian Tew

Patent number: 5641144Abstract: A dialyzer holder for quickly and securely fastening a variety of different dialyzers in position against a surface of a dialysis machine. The dialyzer holder includes an elongated arm pivotably attached to the dialysis machine. An attachment device for engaging a dialyzer is fixed to the free end of the pivotable elongated arm. The pivotable elongated arm is biased to direct the attachment device toward the dialysis machine, and the elongated arm is of sufficient length to position a dialyzer between the attachment device and the dialysis machine when an operator overcomes the bias force and pivots the arm away from the dialysis machine. The bias on the elongated arm is sufficiently strong to maintain the dialyzer suspended between the attachment device and the dialysis machine, even once the dialyzer is filled with blood and dialysate during patient treatment.Type: GrantFiled: June 7, 1995Date of Patent: June 24, 1997Assignee: COBE Laboratories, Inc.Inventors: Dan Lee Hendrickson, Jeff Samson, Jim Zook
