  • Publication number: 20160333866
Abstract: A Hall thruster apparatus having walls constructed from a conductive material, such as graphite, and having magnetic shielding of the walls from the ionized plasma has been demonstrated to operate with nearly the same efficiency as a conventional nonmagnetically shielded design using insulators as wall components. The new design is believed to provide the potential of higher power and uniform operation over the operating life of a thruster device.

  • Publication number: 20160265517
Abstract: Hall thrusters with conductive coatings are disclosed. A Hall thruster comprises magnetic shielding in order to avoid collisions with the inner walls of its discharge chamber. By removing the source of erosion, the walls of the chamber can be removed reducing mass, cost and complexity of the thruster. A conductive coating, such as an aluminum coating, is deposited on inner screens between the discharge chamber and the magnetic poles of the thruster. The magnetic field within the chamber shields the conductive coating deposited on the inner and outer screens of the chamber.

  • Patent number: 9405798
Abstract: A system includes a transceiver, processor, database, and memory. Instructions for executing a nearest neighbor search are recorded in memory. Receipt of a query point by the transceiver from a camera or other input device causes the processor to construct a KD-Fern having nodes as an ordered set of splitting dimensions and thresholds. All nodes at the same level of the KD-Fern have the same splitting dimension d and the same threshold ?. A binary bit is generated at each node describing a respective threshold comparison decision for that particular node. The processor associates each of a plurality of binary addresses in the binary map with a corresponding nearest neighbor index, determines the binary address of the query point, and returns, e.g., to a vehicle braking, steering, or body control module, a nearest neighbor result by extracting the nearest neighbor from the binary map.

  • Publication number: 20160130191
Abstract: A homogeneous fertilizer granule comprises slow-release (e.g. struvite) and fast release sources of phosphorus (P). The homogeneous fertilizer granule may further contain other essential nutrients and micronutrients required by plants. A number of methods may be used to make such granules. One method includes introducing a struvite slurry or fines and a liquid supply of water soluble P into a granulator. Alternatively, dry raw materials can be mixed with water/steam and/or another binder prior to being fed into a granulator. In another embodiment, pre-mixed dry raw materials are mechanically compacted and crushed to yield homogeneous fertilizer particles.

  • Publication number: 20150209977
Abstract: A method of recycling plastic e-waste material and products made from recycled e-waste involves one or more separate streams of different plastic waste which are reduced to small granular form, blended together or separately or used separately before insertion into a compounder which reduces the small sized plastic particles to a semi-molten emulsion. The emulsion is placed in a press and molded to a final product shape. The final product is finished and inspected. The products from the recycled plastic e-waste can be used as substrates on road signs.

  • Publication number: 20060128308
Abstract: A novel and useful low power Bluetooth page and inquiry scan mechanism. Efficient and low power page and inquiry scans are performed by measuring the energy received at each frequency and comparing it to a threshold. If the energy sensed is greater than the threshold, normal Bluetooth page or inquiry scans are then performed within the scan window. The energy sensing is done by quickly sweeping the receiver in the radio over all 79 Bluetooth frequencies in less than 68 ?s at least 19 times in order to cover at least 1.25 ms thus ensuring capturing any page or inquiry message transmissions. For noisy environments, a mechanism is provided to turn frequency sweeping off until interference is at a low enough level to reduce the number of false positive detections to an acceptable level.
