    Abstract: A computer-implemented method and system are described for training a class-conditional generative adversarial network (GAN). The discriminator is trained using a classification loss function while omitting using an adversarial loss function. Instead, if the training data has C classes, the classification loss function is formulated as a 2C-class classification problem, by which the discriminator is trained to distinguish 2 times C classes. Such trained discriminator provides an informative training signal for the generator to learn the class-conditional data synthesis by the generator. A data synthesis system and computer-implemented method are also described for synthesizing data using the generative part of the trained generative adversarial network.

    Abstract: A training method is described in which data augmentation is used. New data instances are derived from existing data instances by modifying the latter in a manner dependent on respective variables. A conditionally invertible function is provided to generate different prediction target labels for the new data instances based on the respective variables. The machine learnable model thereby may not only learn the class label of a data instance but also the characteristic of the modification. By being trained to learn the characteristics of such modifications, the machine learnable model may better learn the semantic features of a data instance, and thereby may learn to more accurately classify data instances. At inference time, an inverse of the conditionally invertible function may be used to determine the class label for a test data instance based on the output label of the machine learned model.

A user equipment (UE) may communicate with a base station by initiating a random access procedure with a two-root preamble. The UE may receive, from the base station, control signaling that indicates a set of root preamble sequences. The UE may transmit, to the base station, a preamble signal that is generated based on a first root preamble sequence and a second root preamble sequence of the set of root preamble sequences. The UE may then monitor for a preamble response based on the preamble signal. In some cases, the base station may be a base station in a terrestrial network. In other cases, the base station may be a satellite in a non-terrestrial network (NTN).

    Abstract: A computing system is described herein that expedites deep neural network (DNN) operations or other processing operations using a hardware accelerator. The hardware accelerator, in turn, includes a tensor-processing engine that works in conjunction with a scalar-processing unit (SPU). The tensor-processing engine handles various kinds of tensor-based operations required by the DNN, such as multiplying vectors by matrices, combining vectors with other vectors, transforming individual vectors, etc. The SPU performs scalar-based operations, such as forming the reciprocal of a scalar, generating the square root of a scalar, etc. According to one illustrative implementation, the computing system uses the same vector-based programmatic interface to interact with both the tensor-processing engine and the SPU.

    Abstract: Disclosed are techniques for paging a user terminal (UT) in a non-terrestrial network (NTN), which may define a plurality of NTN tracking areas (TA). Each NTN TA, served by one or more satellite beams, may move or may be a geographic region. The UT may report its location before changing its connection state with the NTN and may also update its location whenever it moves a threshold distance from the previous reported location. The NTN may estimate UT's current location based on the last reported location and other factors including mobility of the UT. The NTN may determine a UT TA as the NTN TA that corresponds to the current location, and may page the UT through one or more satellite beams corresponding to the UT TA.
