  • Patent number: 10832416
Abstract: Disclosed embodiments provide techniques for estimating crowd flow rate. Video frames are obtained from a crowd scene. Groups of consecutive video frames form a time window. Crowd flow rate through the field of view of the camera is analyzed by estimating a total number of people contained within at least one frame of a time window. A subset of the people within the frame are identified as a group of tracker candidates. The tracker candidates are monitored throughout the time window, and the time when the tracker candidates exit the field of view of the camera is used to estimate a crowd flow rate for the number of people passing through the field of view of the camera in a given time interval. Thus, disclosed embodiments can improve the technical field of crowd flow rate estimation.

  • Publication number: 20200313817
Abstract: Various designs for reference signals for beam management (BM) in non-terrestrial networks (NTNs) in 5G systems are discussed. NTN platforms determine to transmit a BM reference signal associated with a beam in an NTN. The BM reference signal is configured to facilitate beam switching at a wireless communication entity, and the beam having a beam bandwidth. The NTN platforms determines a frequency resource for transmitting the BM reference signal, and transmits, to a wireless communication entity, the BM reference signal in the determined frequency resource. The wireless communication entity monitors the frequency resource, receives the BM reference signal associated with the beam in the frequency resource, and manages beam selection based on the received BM reference signal. Other aspects and features are also claimed and described.

  • Publication number: 20200313754
Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. Generally, the described techniques provide for efficiently determining appropriate uplink frequencies for uplink transmissions to a satellite. As described herein, a wireless communications system may support a closed loop frequency correction scheme where a satellite may provide an uplink frequency correction to a user equipment (UE) such that the UE may be able to identify an appropriate uplink frequency for an uplink transmission. In some implementations, the UE may first transmit an uplink signal to the satellite on an initial uplink frequency, and the satellite may determine a corrected uplink frequency for the UE based on the initial uplink frequency. The satellite may then transmit an indication of the corrected uplink frequency to the UE, and the UE may transmit a second uplink signal based on the corrected uplink frequency.

Abstract: In some aspects, a user equipment (UE) may receive a configuration from a base station that indicates whether to use a first channel quality indicator (CQI) table from a first set of CQI tables associated with terrestrial network communications or whether to use a second CQI table from a second set of CQI tables associated with non-terrestrial network communications. The UE may transmit CQI feedback to the base station based at least in part on the configuration. The UE may transmit the CQI feedback using the first CQI table when the configuration indicates that the first CQI table is to be used or may transmit the CQI feedback using the second CQI table when the configuration indicates that the second CQI table is to be used.

  • Patent number: 10787757
Abstract: The present invention provides a system and method for the application of a functional thread to secure roving or other fibers to a substrate, thereby forming a precursor to a resultant composite component structure having targeted, enhanced structural reinforcement. The functional thread may be comprised of one or more fibrous filaments or have a monofilament structure. The invention encompasses the sewing of this functional thread at varying stitch densities as function of component stress analysis, the mechanical stresses that the component will be subject to when exposed to the forces and loads associated with its intended use, and at least one physical or mechanical property of a functional thread. This variable stitch density serves to provide targeted, localized mechanical enhancement and reinforcement to the resultant composite structure.
