  • Publication number: 20030047327
Abstract: A fire suppression apparatus including a variable aeration mixing rate nozzle and a method for generating a foam discharge at a variable aeration mixing rate nozzle. The fire suppression apparatus includes a motor driven pump for pressurizing a fluid flow and a variable aeration mixing nozzle. A mixing chamber is connected to a pump intake. A surfactant reservoir is connected to the mixing chamber via a siphon line. A variable aeration mixing rate nozzle includes a nozzle section including a venturi for increasing flow velocity. An adjustable stream flow disrupter is located within the nozzle section for increasing flow turbulence. The flow disrupter is adjustable so as to provide a variable aeration mixing rate. The amount of turbulence induced by the flow disrupter may be varied by advancing or withdrawing the flow disrupter into or out of the pressurized fluid flow. The nozzle also includes an air intake for inducing ambient air to the pressurized flow.

  • Publication number: 20020044416
Abstract: A micro hard drive caddy for connecting a micro hard drive to a printed circuit board. The micro hard drive caddy may mount directly to a printed circuit board or other substrate or in the alternative may mount directly to a bus interface socket such as an IDE ribbon cable connector or a PCI slot, both located directly on the processor's main or motherboard. The micro hard drive caddy may also include a vibration isolation and dampening member preferably, although not necessarily, disposed between the interior of the frame and the exterior the micro hard drive, within the footprint of the micro hard drive frame. The micro hard drive caddy may also include a conductive connector for conductively connecting the micro hard drive to an electronic device or system. The conductive connector may include a vibration isolating conductive ribbon.

  • Patent number: 5725737
Abstract: The invention relates to an apparatus for detecting plugged sites and holes and for measuring of the water permeability properties of pervious machine fabrics. Plugged sites in a permeable fabric are detected by sensing water pressure pulses occurring in the nozzle at the moment when a stream of water flowing through the nozzle contacts a plugged site on a fast running fabric. The apparatus can be used on-line to simultaneously detect plugged sites and holes on a moving pervious fabric while monitoring its water permeability properties.

  • Patent number: 3995804
Abstract: An inclined heat absorptive and conductive panel including downwardly opening inverted V-shaped grooves formed therein extending downwardly from the upper end portion of the panel toward the lower end portion of the panel is provided. In addition, structure is provided for introducing a heat absorptive liquid into the upper end portions of the grooves and second structure is provided for receiving and collecting liquid from the lower ends of the grooves. The cross sectional shape and size of the grooves is such to allow at least substantially all of the liquid introduced into the upper ends thereof to be retained therein by the cohesive and surface tension properties of the liquid during its movement downwardly through the grooves by gravity toward the lower end of the panel. The panel comprises an inclined partition secured across the interior of an upwardly opening housing and a substantially fluid tight cover is secured across the top of the housing above the panel.
