  • Publication number: 20070099729
Abstract: A golf green reading device has a lens with a reference line that is illuminated when the reference line is in a horizontal or vertical orientation. The reference line is illuminated by an electrical circuit secured within a housing having a power source, a light source, and a level switch. The user holds the device in a horizontal or vertical orientation to read the slope of a golf green relative to the reference line and determine the correct line to putt the golf ball.

  • Publication number: 20070031575
Abstract: Visually appealing heterogeneous puffed flaked Ready-to-Eat (“R-T-E”) cereal products with varied texture and density have a first continuous denser portion and a second discontinuous portion in the form of more highly puffed discrete regions. The R-T-E cereal products are fabricated from a dried heterogeneous cooked cereal mass comprising a continuous phase provided by macerated cooked cereal ingredients, e.g., cut whole wheat and a discontinuous phase containing added discrete hydrated intact parboiled medium grain rice. The cereal products are made by preparation methods involving forming the workable heterogonous cooked cereal dough into wet pellets having discrete pieces of the parboiled rice; drying the wet pellets to form dried pellets; flaking the dried pellets to form wet flakes; and, heating the wet flakes to dry and puff the flakes to form puffed flakes having 2-5% moisture and bulk density of 270-480 g/liter. The flakes can be pre-sweetened.

  • Publication number: 20070015454
Abstract: A slot ventilator including a housing and a closure member. The housing includes a face with an airflow opening defined in said face. When the closure member is in a first position, the closure member abuts against the face and generally closes the airflow opening. When the closure member is in a second position, the closure member is offset from the face and the airflow opening is generally unobstructed by the closure member. The housing further provides a drive mechanism for displacing the closure member from the housing.

  • Publication number: 20060142767
Abstract: An orthopedic device and method for correcting angular deformation of a bone structure having a growth plate. The device includes first and second hinge members connected together at a hinge joint. The device is adapted for mounting the orthopedic device to the bone structure with the pivot joint positioned over the growth plate. Alignment of the pivot joint with the growth plate promotes asymmetric growth of the growth plate to thereby correct the angular deformation.

  • Patent number: 6471637
Abstract: An apparatus and technique for compensating the display of an image obtained from an endoscope as it is moved through various orientations are described. The endoscope received optical image is converted to an electrical signal with an image sensor that can be a CCD or a CMOS detector. The endoscope has an inertial sensor to sense rotations of the received image about the optical axis of the endoscope and the sensor's output signals are used to rotate either the image or the image sensor. In case of rotation of the image sensor the rotation sensor can be a gyroscope or a pair of accelerometers. In case of a rotation of the image obtained with the image sensor the inertial sensor, which can be an accelerometer or a gyroscope, the image is rotated within a microprocessor for subsequent viewing on a video display. The signal processing to achieve compensatory rotations of the displayed image as an operator of the endoscope moves it about is described.

  • Patent number: 6366196
Abstract: A waiter paging system is provided for use in a restaurant. The system includes a plurality of table transmitters (there being one transmitter at each table) which transmit a “waiter call” signal and a plurality of pager units (there being one pager unit for each waiter). The pager unit notifies the waiter via a vibrator or buzzer that a request has been received and displays the request. In one embodiment, the system includes a central unit which receives the “waiter call” signal from the table transmitter and which effectively relays the “waiter call” signal to the pager units. In a second embodiment, there is no central unit. Rather, the waiter pager units receive the “waiter call” signal directly from the table transmitters. Each pager unit is associated with a set of tables (and hence table transmitters), each set of tables being fewer than all the tables in the restaurant.

  • Patent number: 6206235
Abstract: A candy dispenser includes a container defining a chamber adapted to hold a plurality of pieces of candy in a random fashion. The container has sides, a top, and a bottom which define the chamber. A dispensing tube extends along one side of the container. An opening in the container places the chamber in communication with the dispensing tube. The opening is sized to admit a piece of candy from the chamber to the dispensing tube. A leaf spring is mounted to the bottom of the container. The spring has a spring arm which closes the bottom of the dispensing tube and an upwardly extending finger on the spring arm which is received in the dispensing tube. A plunger associated with the dispenser moves the leaf spring from a relaxed state in which the spring finger is in the dispensing tube and closes the opening to a primed state in which the spring arm is urged away from the dispensing tube a distance sufficient for the spring finger to clear the opening to allow a piece of candy to enter the dispensing tube.
