  • Patent number: 11635057
Abstract: A buoyant hydrodynamic pump is disclosed that can float on a surface of a body of water over which waves tend to pass. The pump incorporates an open-bottomed tube with a constriction. The tube partially encloses a substantial volume of water with which the tube's constriction interacts, creating and/or amplifying oscillations therein in response to wave action. Wave-driven oscillations result in periodic upward ejections of portions of the water inside the tube that can be collected in a reservoir that is at least partially positioned above the mean water level of the body of water, or pressurized by compressed air or gas, or both. Water within such a reservoir may return to the body of water via a turbine, thereby generating electrical power (making the device a wave engine), or else the device's pumping action can be used for other purposes such as water circulation, propulsion, or cloud seeding.

  • Patent number: 11631040
Abstract: A system for implementing a trial in one or more fields is provided. In an embodiment, an agricultural intelligence computing system receives field data for a plurality of agricultural fields. Based, at least in part, on the field data for the plurality of agricultural fields, the agricultural intelligence computing system identifies one or more target agricultural fields. The agricultural intelligence computing system sends, to a field manager computing device associated with the one or more target agricultural fields, a trial participation request. The server receives data indicating acceptance of the trial participation request from the field manager computing device. The server determines one or more locations on the one or more target agricultural fields for implementing a trial and sends data identifying the one or more locations to the field manager computing device.

  • Publication number: 20230086056
Abstract: A packaging arrangement for a wearable ornament, such as a pin-backed figurine that is supplied with a loop backer enabling the figurine to be coupled with a rope or chain, includes a post for display of the figurine using with the loop backer when not being worn. The figurine on the post may be snapped into a base, the base having a base top and base bottom that are separable from one another. A transparent cover encloses the figurine on the post atop the base, with a backing held in place behind the figurine in the packaging by retention tabs proximate to top corners of the transparent cover, by alignment ridges of the base top and by support posts inside the base bottom. • Publication number: 20230061885
Abstract: A system for facilitating sender-side congestion control is provided. During operation, the system, on a sender node, can determine the utilization of a buffer at a last-hop switch to a receiver node based on in-flight packets to the receiver node. The receiver node can be reachable from the sender node via the last-hop switch. The system can then determining a fraction of available space in the buffer for packets from the sender node based on the utilization of the buffer. Subsequently, the system can determine whether the fraction of the available space in the buffer can accommodate a next packet from the sender node while avoiding congestion at the buffer at the receiver node. If the fraction of the available space in the buffer can accommodate the next packet, the system can allow the sender node to send the next packet to the receiver node.

  • Publication number: 20230066848
Abstract: A system for facilitating sender-side granular congestion control is provided. During operation, the first and second processes of an application can run on sender and receiver nodes, respectively. A first buffer on the sender node can be allocated to the first process. For the first process, the system can then identify a second buffer at a last-hop switch of the receiver node. The system can determine, based on in-flight packets, the utilization of the second buffer. The system can also determine a fraction of available space in the second buffer for packets from the first buffer based on the utilization. Subsequently, the system can determine whether the fraction of the available space can accommodate the next packet from the first buffer. If the fraction of the available space can accommodate the next packet, the system can allow the first process to send the next packet to the second process.

  • Patent number: 11566596
Abstract: A buoyant wave energy device is disclosed that incorporates an open-bottomed tube of substantial length in which is partially enclosed a first body of water that oscillates in response to wave action. The device incorporates a buoy to which an upper end of the tube is connected and inside of which is trapped a second body of water of substantial mass. A differential phase in the oscillations of the water trapped in the tube, and the oscillations of the buoy of augmented mass, result in the periodic compression of a pocket of air trapped at the top of the tube, and in the subsequent expulsion of pressurized air through a turbine, thereby generating electrical power.
